win x64 has a free download trial.now if i try this,will everything that was 32 bit work?like games,software,hardware.or does this wipe the slate clean?like all my files and drivers are gone,like starting all over again.will software written for 32 bit work on x64?i have so many games that are not optimised for 64 bit os,like fear,farcry,doom3,list goes on and on
WinXP 64 is lacking in DRIVERS, so if you're a gamer it is a big NO-NO. The moral of the story is never be among the first to use a new MS product and never upgrade your OS unless it is needed to access some new programs or devices.
I only went with XP Pro in my new system (rather than stock XP) because of the switch to a dual processor machine.
