Just downloaded ratDVD movie, except i didn't notice it was a ratDVD initially. I know there's no way to play the file directly, but is there a way to convert it into something i can watch? i haven't been able to find another torrent for the movie, and i really would not like to have to eat the download time and all that. Even if its just using a friend's computer.

any ideas?

If you install ratDVD, the .ratDVD file will play in most players you might have. Also, if you like, you can use ratDVD to convert back to a 4.5Gig DVD. So... the answer is - install ratDVD.

I think camdens question is if there is a OS X version of ratDVD or any other way to play a ratDVD under OS X.

Nope there is no way to play ratDVD except on a PC that also has ratDVD on it.

RatDVD installs some codecs that makes it possible to play the format. So if you have a PC but not ratDVD, it won't work.

At first I thought ratDVD was great, but after a few months I realize it will NEVER be good because they are doing things the wrong way;

1) propriatary compression format
2) no support for *any* other platform (OS X, Linux)

Ergo: FORGET ratDVD. The concept is great, but the makers of it SUCK...

Only think that sucks is, that they don't make there codecs avaible. VLC for example can play nearly anything, what can be read by ffmpeg.

It would be nice to see the codecs anyhow!
