ok I haven't seen this issue discussed very much on the internet. Everyone one wants their downloads fast but Im actually having a slow Upload problem. I cant figure out why...? So hopefully one of you incredibly smart people out there could help me out.

I've been having this problem for months...

I am currently using BitTorrent 4.1.6 and i cant upload more than 15KB/s. I've done the port forwarding thing and to my knowlege, it only helped out my download speed. Which is usually in the 60KB/s - 80KB/s for torrents with lots of seeds. I've created a few torrents to distribute but when I can only upload them at 15KB/s, they dont get seeded fast.

ok. so hopefully that explained my problem good enough. here is some other info about my setup:

-windows xp pro corp /sp2.
-Westell 6100 DSL Modem
-using BitTorrent 4.1.6
-I've forwarded ports 6881-6889 (even tried 16881-16889. Saw that on a website but it helped no more than the stardard 6881-6889 ports)

if more info is needed...just let me know. Thanx guys!

Hmmmm...if you are in the USA, please take this speedtest and post your MAX upload and Max download.

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

And CHANGE your port range, 6881, etc are blocked by most clients and ISPs.

are you using private trackers? If not you don't have to upload.

I am having the exact same problem - for instance I just completed a 1400mb download in about 2 hours (with my default max. download set at 200kb/s), but it takes me 24 hours to share back 60%. My green light comes on within a minute of connecting yet I can't upload more than 20 kb/s max (usually around 10 kb/s no matter if I allow 5 peers or 20).Speakeasy shows my down speed at 6500+ and my up speed at 975+. I can't believe my cable/internet provider, Shaw Extreme, has set such a low bittorrent upload limit. These low speeds started about 2 months ago, but seem to be getting worse, with no change in client (BitTornado) or computer and router setup. Any help would be appreciated.

brett,

Are you downloading a torrent that is very highly seeded and with low peers?

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. I see your point and that is why I try to normally download when downloaders out number seeders. But I have to set BitTornado to a max 60 peers or my router freezes. I usually am able to get about 30 - 30 split between seeders and downloaders. But even after I am finished downloading and try re-connecting to uploaders only, I still can only seed at around 10kb/s. I guess many would like to have my problem, but if you want to keep your ratio at 65%+ it is difficult when max. seed speed is 10kb/s.

Just wanted to let anyone interested know that I switched clients to "uTorrent" and am now able to set max. connections to 100 with so far no router freeze up problems, which results in faster uploads (I still have max. download speed set, so no difference there). Plus this client uses about one-third the resources that BitTornado used on my computer, and if I am downloading 2 or more torrents, even way less than that in comparison. So far so good with "uTorrent".

Hi,

I am having the same problem. I took th speed test (I am in the UK and it works just fine). The results showed an upload speed of 25kb/s which is the best I have been getting. Does this mean that my ISP (NTL) has set a maximum of 25kb/s that I can't change? If not what can I do?

Thanks

Jon

I just downloaded the new utorrent and it sure don't get in the way of other things, butmy upload is slow compaired to abc client, sometimes it don't upload at all even with lots of peers that have a lower percent than me. i did the speed test and my upload is between 3000 and 3200 and my upload is around 300. does that sound right.Thank you.
