Hi, Nero buring ROM no longer works. The little splash screen comes up then an error message. I uninstalled then reinstalled from another copy and still the same. Other components of Nero work fine...

Error message says:
nero.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

A system restore isn't possible.
Can't say if it had anything to do with it but soon before I noticed it had stopped working (a day or two) I uninstalled some of the other components of Nero 7 Premium. Reinstalling them didn't fix it. Daemon Tools was also installed around that time but but I uninstalled that and Nero then tried reinstalling Nero and still didn't work.

man the problume is a registery problume i had the same problume. there is a registery patch i have but i cant paste it.dont know how to get it to do it. if you want give me your e-mail and i will mail it. if you look around in these forums u will see the patch, it is from Nero.

Thanks for the reply, but download it from where? Where is this fixed version? I would think I have the same one, but maybe not. Is there a patch or fix somewhere on a website that I can just download without having to get the whole program again?

This is the Nero registry cleaner, but i am not sure if that is what you are talking about;

I will dig around the Nero site some more and post back if i find anything.
See what happens when you say you have a fix, but don't post it? I bet your PM account is flooded. If you have a site that this patch is on, just click on the url and do a copy, then just do a paste in your post. The site will appear as a link in your post and ppl can go right there rather than saying "i need this patch too".

If you are having problems posting the link. PM me with it, and i will post it here, unless it is an already downloaded file, then we would have to find where that file came from. You say it is a Nero patch, but the one i posted is the only one dealing with registry issues i could find at the Nero site. Nero 7 doesn't even list any tools for it, that one came from Nero 6. Anyone else who knows what this patch is, a program name might help, please post it before this becomes a 300 page post with tons of "i need the patch". I am not saying this patch wont work, just that we need to have it listed here so ppl can get it directly, and not have to PM you all the time with their e-mail address.

Another user emailed me the fix - I don't know where it came from and can't upload it anywhere but if you:
(1) Open Notepad.
(2) Copy and paste this:
REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\BCGWorkspace\BCGControlBarVersion]
(3) Save as whatever.reg
(4) Double-click on the .reg file you just saved and it should ask you if you want to add information to the registry. Click yes.
This fix worked for my specific problem, so if you think you don't have the same error then don't use it or at least backup your registry before doing this. I'm no expert so if anyone wants to add anything please do.

This problem only affected certain builds of Nero 7 updating to the latest build usually does the trick.

Thanks for posting that fix pockets23. That is what we needed to see here. I think everyone should follow jbelder's advice and DL the latest build of Nero7 first, and see if that fixes it. If not, you always have the registry edit to fall back on.

(Thats How You upgrade Nero install the newest vesion and it updates your old version to the new.) The newest version is 7.0.1.2
Download it from nero where else would you get software made by a company. the company is Ahead Nero.http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html

Personally i am staying away from Nero 7 for awhile. It looks like tooo many issues are going on for many ppl. Nero Vers 6.6.0.18 works perfectly for me. Looks like some ppl have problems getting rid of Nero 7 and trying to go back to vers 6x also. Eventually we will probably have to upgrade if we want the latest from nero, but they seem to be supporting vers 6x still.
