Hi:
Just recently encountered this problem with my A70 Canon:

* I upload photos from my camera to my pc.
* I edit them with Adobe PhotoShop.

* When I attempt to download them back to the card, using ZoomBrowser EX,
I received this error message: filename.ipg is an image not taken with
a Canon camera or was edited after being taken. This image cannot
be viewed in the camera window.

Thanks for any help.

Well you said it yourself.

It was edited, so it can't be put back again. By the way, why do you need to edit pictures and then put them back? One way would be buying a memory card reader and using it to copy pictures back. They don't cost so much anymore, you can get those 9-in-1 readers for very low price.

arcanix.......your incorrect. I've been editing
photos with photoshop, and would sent them back to the
memory card without ANY problems. This problem just
surfaced. What card(s) do you suggest?
TIA

With the same camera? Well try not to change the format when you edit. I talked about memorycard _readers_. Search "memorycard reader" from ebay. I don't have a need for memory card readers because I have no need for one, but I know that it's a one way to go.

I never tried putting them back in the camera after editing. Maybe you changed some parameter in PhotoShop since it used to work. I always take them off the card as soon as possible myself and never even thought of putting them back on since once they are on the PC I can email them or burn to cdr/cdrw. I am still trying to think of a reason why you would need them back on the card.

I have the SanDisk Memory Card Reader for CF which the A70 uses. It is much better than using the camera to upload, for one thing uploading from the camera drains your batteries much faster. I wouldn't get one of the 9 card readers if you don't need them since many of them take a drive letter for each reader, instead just get a CF reader only.

Xian.........here's the answer.
I have a 56 dial up. At times, I'll have 50 or more photos (for the sake of conversation.)
I'd be from here to eternity uploading to a commercial carrier, i.e Wal-Mart.
So, I generally remove them from the memory card, using ZoomBrowser EX, and place them in a folder on my pc.
At my pace, I'll edit the photos using PhotoShop, and download them back to the memory card.
Then I'll take the memory card to Wal-Mart and have them printed.
I'm not saying this is the best method, just merely asking if anyone
had encountered/or had an answer to the error message I was receiving.
**** Here's the latest problem: Once again editing in PhotoShop, I have been successful downloading back to the memory card.
In the camera's LCD, I get this error message, "incompatibility .jpg format."
I do appreciate all the replies. But, do not want to drag out this thread.
Thanks for the card reader info. (Although I'm using a DC connection to the camera.)

If I copy directly from my A70 using a cardreader (eg the CF slot on my new digiarmor S20 MP3 player http://www.dapreview.net/content.php?review.215) then the files can't be opened on my PC - it says the file format isn't valid. If I use MS Windows scanner and camera wizard, no problems. Is there some kind of image transfer protocol?
