hi, i have Limewire pro, i have a belkin wireless ADSL 2MB broadband. the problem is everytime i want to download a song it takes 20 minutes at least to download one 6Mb song. Any clues on how i can speed it up, when i am downloading from sites such as Microsoft the downloads are much quicker, so its not my internet but the limewire. i have heard or portforwarding, does that help? any help appreciated, thanks alot

Hey, the thing is with P2P is that he download speeds are limited by the amount of people sharing the file/s and the speed of their internet connection. For example if someone was sharing a file on 56k Dialup, and you have your 2MB connection, your download speed for that file would be limited to the same as their upload speed (about 3KB!).

Large companies usually have high speed connections (20MB+) so your download is then limited by your own connection!

on limewire it says different connections. i have tried downloading from every single one. even the fast ones such as 'T1'. I need to download songs fast before friday and need a solution. i am sure someone knows why its not working. i dont know much about this stuff. i think my router is firewalling my files.
anymore ideas please tell me asap. thanks

Does yours look something like this? The wall in front of the globe means you are firewalled and it is slowing down your connection. If that is the case, what firewall(s) do you have?

Does anyone know how to disable Limewire so that it doesn't start automatically when I first turn on the computer. I want to be able to start Limewire when I want to and not right away.
