Hi,
I downloaded the game Rez as a .rar file, and there was also a .sfv file with the torrent. I unpacked the RAR file and got a .mds and a .mdf file, I used Toast 7 to burn the MDS and MDF files onto a CD, put it in my modded ps2, but it wouldn't load, it would recognize it as a PS2 disc, but when I click on it in the browser the screen would go black and then go back to the browser.

Any help? thanks.

Yep. Use these intructions: Q. How do I burn PS2 CD-ROM based games?
A. Use Alcohol 120%. Open Alcohol 120%. Open the image you want to burn. Right click image making wizard. Set the read speed to 1x, check ignore read errors, fast skip error blocks, set the write Method to DAO/SAO, select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, and set the datatype to PS2. Click next. Once the image is created, right click it and go to image burning wizard. Set the write speed to 4x, the write method to DAO/SAO, the data type to PS2, and select your recorder, click next.

Thanks for your help. Apparently it's not possible to burn CDs in virtual PC though, I guess I'll just have to use my friend's PC =]

Yeah I'm sure there's a way. Can you use Nero, CDRWIN, or CloneCD on a Mac?

No, those are all Windows-only apps.

Man that sucks. These companies need to start producing more software with the Mac in my mind. With the all monitoring software that'll be going into Longhorn or w/e Microsoft's next OS is called, my next computer will be a Mac.

I believe it is now called Vista (Viruses, Infections, Spyware, Trojans, Adware). I also downloaded another Rez file that was bin/cue. Toast supports bin/cue files, I burned it, but the same thing happened on my ps2. But then again I am not sure if it is the PS2 version, but it did show up as a PS2 CD in the browser.
Does the CD-R brand I use have an influence?

Are you talking about the feature built into the upcoming Windows OS that will encrypt your downloads, requiring third party permission to decrypt and access them? I believe this will also be part of the X-box 360, which will be used to debut Vista, Longhorn or whatever the hell it's called. You do have some method of booting backups like Swap Magic or a modchip, right? Media makes more of a difference for DVD-R's than CD-R's.

I don't know much about Toast, but the settings you should use are data mode 2, if it doesn't say that, CD-XA. Burn at 4x. Load the cue file into Toast. Make sure read subchannel data from current disc is checked. Uncheck anything like jitter control. This is an approximation, but these are some common burn settings.
