Hello Can anyone tell me.What is DVD-R good for what can you record to them?Ive had no luck with them. I have a Sony DRXC 500ul an all format burner..Thanks

I have the Sony DRU-500AX and have recorded successfully on all formats to include -R. Are you sure your desktop will read -Rs? What problem are you having specifically?

Yep let us know WHAT u r trying to burn and what software u r using, this will give us a good idea of ur intentions and possible outcomes.

I only have the old pioneer 103 dvd-r burner and am looking to upgrade to the sony dual format so I can do anything with it.

I have a drx500ul and have burned all formats including backups of movies and camcorder video to DVD-R with excellent results.

Thanks for the advice.Maybe its because I used cheap dvd-r,Whats the best to use DVD-r.Thanks.I just want to backup dvds on them.I use dvd x copy and veritas that came with the burner the dvd-r stops at 98 percent

Go here - http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/mediainfo_na.htm - for compatible media for your burner.

try Universal DVD-R at dvd-r.safewebshop.com... works well for me.
