Right i really need to play GTA so if i go and buy it and upgrade to verision 2 will i still be able to downgrade back to verision 1.5 to use homebrew???

Upgrading to 2.0 to play GTA and then downgrading back to 1.5 should work fine. The concern would be that one knows the long term effect of writing over your firmware numerous times. It's possible that it could damage the PSP over time. It's kind of like running hte CPU at 333mhz with homebrew. It probably won't cause any serious damage, but no one has been able to know the long term effects.
