Nero Version: 6.6.0.8
- not too bad, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.16

- is this a Ricoh or Aopen drive ?, i'm having trouble verifying what this drive is and what the latest firmware revision should be. If it's a Ricoh, according to this - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1620 1.19 is the latest revision. However see further down my reply, the firmware isn't recognising the media you're using..

- DMA is a pig to sort on these if i remember correctly. i can't yet find the thread i was looking for that details how to sort the 'buffer too large' problem and DMA for these annoying viadisk drivers. still looking, there's a real long thread about it round here somewhere.

edit- finally i found i found it, i remembered the user 'kurtp21' found the solution here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/231433 - quote from kurtp21 in that link

I removed the VIA busmaster drivers from my system and now I can burn dvds again. I use for the moment the default VIA busmaster drivers that come with XP.
It was a pain finding that thread as neither google nor afterdawn's search would find it, the only way i found it was remembering to search for 'kurtp21'. shows how much of a pain this 'buffer too large' problem is when a username gets lodged in my brain like that :)

- firmware is update to date, however it was last updated February 2004. Sounds like the media you're using is too new for the firmware to know what to do with. Try this, download dvd identifier - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id... (free) and use it to 'identify' one of those disks you're trying to use and paste results here. You still won't be able to use those disks but we can at least find out what they are and then we can see if we can find out what discs this burner can use. This happens, burners get superceded and left behind re the firmware..

- that 3line paragraph is an example of what you see when firmware is up to date, when it's not up to date you just see the first line..
