MPEG Layer-3 Audio to CD

OK, I'm not hip on this so here's my situation: I was sent an original audio recording in MPEG Layer-3 Audio format. I need to burn it onto a CD so that it'll play in a regular home audio CD player. What format must it be converted to (if any) and how is it done? I truly appreciate the help!

If it's in MP3 then you can use any app to burn to cd.

It's in 'MPEG Layer-3 Audio' format (whatever that is). Doesn't it need to be in Wav format to play on a standard CD player?

well CDs don't use WAV files, those are just windows format of uncompressed audio. CDs use PCM audio. Any burning app such as Nero or roxio will automatically convert your mp3s to the correct format for audio CDs. Just select "create audio CD" for your burning options and just drag your mp3 files over.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
