I have been using DVD Decrypter to copy DVD5's. I am not happy with its performance. What is a better program to use, and is there a guide to go along with it? Thanks. GBH

Going by your other post about dvd-rom read speeds, I am goning to have to say that you could try other programs with guides for them one this site, Here: http://www.doom9.org
and Here: http://www.dvd2dvdr.com
but unless you can get an older dvd-rom that isn't locked to 2x with dvd movies, then no program can do better than dvddecrypter. besides, why would you want the replace that program, its pretty cool, and its only major rival is smartripper, and I doubt that it could rip any faster. So, just get used to the slow rip speeds, there are worse things in life.

This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.

I am not unhappy with the rip speed, that rests with my DVD Burner. I have just heard that DVD Decrypter produces more coasters, and I have noticed this. I will check doom9, and dvd2dvdr.

I use DVD Decrypter and haven't made a coaster yet. Try it then if you don't like it you can try Smart ripper similar to DVD Decrypter.

DVD Decrypter does little more than remove the CSS Encryption from the movies, and remove Macrovision. I have used DVD Decrypter to make an image of a DVD and then burnt to a DVD using DVD Decrypter, and it has worked fine.

Other software to try would be Nero (5.5.10.7b) or Gear Professional, which works quite well too :-)

As far as I remember, Nero can burn the DVD images created by DVD Decrypter. Simply select Burn CD Image from Nero's File menu, select All files (*.*) or sumthing from the file dialog's dropdown, locate the DVD image created by the DVD Decrypter and burn it.

I tried burning at 1x with DVD Decrypter and it has so far been alot better, less coasters (3 for 3 so far). I also found out that a date program some how was installed on my computer without me knowing it (probably from a download) and it had been running (in the background) while I was trying to copy. I remember reading that you should close all programs while copying, evidently this is very true. Thanks for the help. Also, I use smart ripper for all of my DVD9's, works great!
