First off your not stupid Ok?

Now do you even have a Wireless Router, or at the least a Wireless Access Point? I'm not so sure about the latter but I think it might be possible to use it. But, in the end you'll come off smarter and with more Money in the end, when you just get thr Router!

Ok assuming you have a Router, that you have properly installed. you should be able to access it though the PC which you have it connected to, by typeing 192.168.xxx.xxx into a Browser. (see your Manual),. If this is your first time with the Router the the Password will likely be 0000. If not, then use the known Pasword to enter the Confuration Settings' Menu. Again check back with your Manuals if you need more clearfiaction. One of the more important things you need to probably write down, is the WEP (Encryption Key), so that you can use this latter when you go to setup the PSP?.

Ok so much for the Router. As for a Wireless Access Point, Setup. I guess I should explain that there are Two kinds of 802.11 (Wirless),. They are, Infastucture Mode and Ad-Hoc Mode. Ad-Hoc Mode would be like playing a Game in Syslink Mode (i.e. Two PSPs'?), Basicly you can only talk and listion to those who are in that Ad-Hoc Netwok. The Internet is not part of this Ad-Hoc Network, so you will not be able to get on-Line, though the Ad-Hoc Mode.

The Infastructue Mode (i.e. Router's and WAP's), Mode has the means to allow you to get On-Line. In the case of a Router, it's almost as simple as Plug'n'Play.

Now assuming that you, like myself. Also has a XBOX? and a 2NIC (Network Interface Cards) The One beeing for the Internet the other for a Crossover CAT-5E Cable to the XBOX? with Internet Conection Shareing turned on. And you thought that you could just buy a Wireless NIC Card. Then allas, That is only an Ad-Hoc Connection, so no go!

I'm only guessing here as I have since recived a Wireless Router as a Gift. But, if you went out and supplmented your Wireless Access Point / Wireless NIC, with the other... Then you should be in the position to set up a Infrastructure Mode. That you then in theroy could use with ICS turned on. The only problem with this is that in order to use this setup the Internet connected PC must remain on. Just like with the XBOX?.

A Router on the otherhand can be setup with your Log-In details (i.e. PPPoE), then you don't need to have the PC running to get your other devices XBOX?, PS2? or PSP? On-Line.

Needless to say, if you do not know what a Wireless Router, Wireless Access Point or a Wireless NIC is. Then it's a fair bet that you don't have access to One at the moment. Somthing that a quick trip to your Local Electronics / Computer Store, should fix....

You Might want to think about the reasons for wanting Wireless and the PSP. Is it worth it ?

1) Web Browsing "Stable/Legal" (Youll need 2.0 Firmware)

2) Onling Gaming, (While most Games offer Peer to Peer/PSP to PSP, There arent alot that offer Online play as such over the net. There are programs that allow you to use your WIFI Card and Internet Connection to utilize the Peer to Peer mode over the net, But please note that this is very dependant on the WIFI Card you own, Only limited cards are supported and the setup for this Is Quiet involved and not an easy process.)

3) Funky Features like HTTPD Server on your PSP (Well i think you can decided for yourself on this one)

Hope this helped :)

Not to mention the dangers of the Network Update... >=(
Not the most v1.50 App on the PSP. Well ya do have to keep pressing the 'X' Button to actually download it, and then install it. So it's all up to the User...

But, I personaly tired of all the 'My little'... Brother / Sister / Dog / Cat / Rat et-al used the Network update on my PSP?. How can I downgrade? Posts.

By the way System_X:

I find the only difference besides the UI (and Analog Stick Mouse) on the PSP v2.0. Is the fact that the Firmware v2.0+ actually supports more Picture Formats. v1.50 only has support for *.jpg's and *.png's. Where v2.0 supports *.bmp's, *.tif's, *.gif's etc.

I also find the load times to be better aswell.

What I find more usefull or atleast novel is the PSP Radio (e.g. Shoutcast), Homebrew App for v1.50. Lets face it Surfing the Web on the PSP might be something to do while in the John! but, I do find myself useing PSP Radio more often though...
