Hey.. My psp like bleeped up and it won't read any UMDs.. it just doesn't detect it.. and at the bottom right hand corner of the screen where it shows if the disk is loading.. it just stays there once a UMD is put in.. anyone know the problem?

I wouldnt know for sure what the problem is but it sounds like some sort of sensor problem i would return it to where you bought it, or sony , sony has a 1 year gurantee on the psp. IT DEFINATELY SOUNDS COMPLETELY BROKEN.

Well as with the other 3 sony products I have here, they all stopped reading discs properly after a while. So I am expecting for the same to happen with the PSP....thank goodness I won mine and didn't pay for it.

Could be that you dont have the correct firmware version if its just happening with newer games

Major problem... I bought it from overseas... LIve in Australia.. but bought it at the start of this year in January in Japan. Argh... But i heard something about some Sony global guarantee or some bleep... no idea.

Im sure sony has a global gurantee like the ipod global gurantee. valor 7 would be correct in saying that you might noot have the correct firmwire. Games which are bought out of shops in the uk will only play on your psp if you have firmwire 2.0. I think you might have firmwire 1.5 or 1.52

If you have firmwire 1.5 or 1.52 a simple upgrade to 2.0 will play games bought from shops, but if you upgrade to 2.0 you willl not be able to run homebrew apps and games. What ever you do, do not upgrade to firmwire 2.01. If you upgrade to 2.01 then you will not be able to run any sort of homebrew as there is no downgrade for firmwire 2.01. (NOT YET ANYWAY)

nah.. before when i had the lastest firmware before i downgraded... the umd didn't work already... so you know... ah well ast least i got to finish mgsa before it bleeped up. bleepin hell. this is ghey. because now, i can't even run isos since you need a umd cd inside to run fastloader. omfg.

Does anyone know if there is a downgrader from 2.01 in the makings or even emulators for firmware versions 2 and up?

There has been no hint of a downgrade from firmwire 2.01 and i dont think there will be for quite a long time. As for emulators for firmwire 2.0 there are none yet but i think there wil be quite a few coming out over the next couple of months.

Sorry boys... my bad for the language.... the UMD was also from jap... i tried any sort of UMD and non of em work.. I used to be able to read em... and just one day.. it just bleeped up..
