No I haven't had time to read all the threads, eventually I will, so If this has been covered forgive me so here it goes:I am looking for the right set up to record DVD's from programs stored in a Cable DVR unit, But I want to be able to dub old home movies from VHS-to-DVD. When I thought I had every thing sorted out, I got another opinion, from someone trying to help and want feed back on the idea. I was going to buy a Sanyo 1000 when the issue of inability to play certain media came up- solution buy better media(Verbatim Media)-problem solved. Well not quite, now I am being told I don't need a combo set up to record VHS to DVD, that I can just hook my VHS player to a DVD Recorder and get the same results. True or false? Any suggestions will help. I want to be able to record Digital and maybe HD programming onto DVD from my Cable system DVR/TIVO, I also want to be able to copy Old Home Movie VHS tapes to DVD as my tapes being cellulose are already degrading and I want to copy them before they are lost. What would you suggest for the best results in undertaking this project. Two seperate units VHS to DVD recorder, or a Combo Unit? I am not gaining much faith in the combo unit idea as the reviews of these units seem to be very mixed. HELP.
