I had my nephew stay with us last night and went to bed with him still playing on the computer. I get up this morning to a NASTY critter on it. I have a WIN32:prox worm. I have Adaware Pro and Avast both running. I thought Avast had gotten rid of it at first but it keeps popping up now.
How do I get rid of this thing? I did a google search with no help at all.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Make sure your Avast virus definitions are upto date, same goes with Adaware..... Have you tried running a full scan in safe mode with Avast and Adaware?

All software is up to date. It has improved but still buggy.

I haven't run in safe mode but will do that next and let you know how it goes.

I have seen you give that advice many times and was the FIRST thing I did after my adaware and avast scan. I have that booked marked in my browser and have sent the advice to many friends. They all sent their thanks to me. And in their place, I thank you.

Schedule avast to do a boot time scan and you should be set. Make sure you set it up to scan archive folders and if you want to automatically delete the file unless ya want to choose whether you want to delete it:>

Just came across this from avast...maybe it can help

Hey All,
I did all the above twice (if once is good, then twice is great). Everything seems back to normal. Thanks for the advice.

I have used avast for quite a while. The only time I have had a problem is when I let my nephew on my computer and he ,for some reason, disables avast. I did the boot time scan to kill this worm. Avast did the job then. So overall I like avast quite abit. Would, and have recomended it to all.
