I went to one website that I had tried before (on another phone and it had worked) to unlock my Nokia 6620...
The code it gave me didn't work... not that it gave me a "code error" message or anything it just reverted back to the "please insert sim" screen. Well I did and it rejected it with "sim card not vaild"
So I tried another site again I had the same out
I figured I had 5 tries to enter a code and I hadn't yet recieved a "code error" message so I tried a third, and I recieved my first "code error" message.
Next I downloaded a program to "generate" codes that was free. Well The first code on the list matched the code the 2nd site gave me (and looked alot like the code the 1st site gave me.) But AGAIN it didn't work, it just reverted back to the "please insert sim"
At this stage I am becoming obsessed with unlocking my phone so I try one more site... and low and behold it spits out the EXACT SAME code the "generator", the 2nd (and possibly the 1st) site gave me...
So does ANYONE know what the deal is, I have seen these phones unlocked before, I don't think I "permantly" locked my phone as the second (possibly first) site gave me the correct code...
I just mirgated over to cingular from AT&T.. so far no service issues..
BUT I need to talk to some one from "AT&T" not "AT&T/Cingular" about getting the subsidy/unlock code for my phone. I know its out there somewhere...
I spoke with a (very nice) "AT&T/Cingular" rep. who told me that they can only unlock Cingular phones. When AT&T sold out they didn't leave any information or their codes. (Cingular reps have a program where they punch in the IMEI # and it spits out the code--so yes they can unlock phones)
Upon speaking to the maufacturer (nokia 6620) they told me that they send out the phones unlocked and it is the service provider who puts the "lock" on the phone.
I have tried several sites who all gave the the same code (it didn't work). I have also called around to local stores but none can unlock my phone using a smartclip (there are none who have one).
All I can say is help?
