Hi guys, I recently was burning a few albums when about halfway through the burning would fail. I tried several times over and over with different brands of CD/DVD but still to no avail. I aslo tried to erase my DVD+RW but my driver wont even recognize the disc and if it does recognize it it wont let me erase the rewritable disc. Here is my latest log from nero. Any help would be much appreciated (lol idont want to buy another CD/DVD drive for my dell)

First things first...edit out your serial #...it start with 1a23.
Second, your firmware is out of date...you can get the latest version here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces
Third,
Quote: NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
DMA needs to be on.
Fourth,
Quote: Physical memory : 510MB (523260kB)
Free physical memory: 228MB (233788kB)
Memory in use : 55
You could stand to free up some memory.
I don't normally use Nero, but upgrading the firmware will probably solve your problem.

You really need to edit out your Nero serial before someone hacked it. In addition to what LOCOENG had mentioned, the following needs to be done.
Quote: Nero Version: 6.6.0.13
Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 13c
I believe this is an old Nero 6 version, you need to update to the latest 6.6.0.16 -- this is not Nero 7.
Quote: DiskPeripheral : ST3120026A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
One of your burner's driver or NEC burner's DMA is Off, it needs to be On/Enable. To do so, follow the following guides, it's pretty easy and sweet.
((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" its driver ?for Win XP users? by alkohol))
Here are some helpful pictures for references.
A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER," left click on "PROPERTIES"
B) left click on "HARDWARE," left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
C) left click on + sign of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
D) double left click on either ?Primary? or ?Secondary IDE Channel?
E) left click on "DRIVER," left click on "UNINSTALL"
You will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system," just click "OK," now "SHUTDOWN" or "restart" your computer
F) once you restart your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner?s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!
**NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "Uninstall" it from the ?DVD/CD-ROM Drives?
****at Device Manager****
(A) left click on + sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
(B) double left click on your DVD burner or your DVD-ROM drive
(C) click on "DRIVER," "UNINSTALL," "OK" and then "shutdown" or "restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!

What kind of cd-r media you're using? It looks like your burner doesn't like the media. Try another good/high quality media on your next burning project.

Roxio is horrible, it conflicts with Nero and therefore, you're making "coasters". You need to dump Roxio, to completely wipe out Roxio, go here http://www.downloadjunction.com/product/store/15199 and download Roxio Zapper to clean out all of it's files/applications from your system.

I've had the same problem as this guy, and I've tried ridding all of Roxio and editing the upper and lower filters on my reg settings. Now InCd won't initialize at all! I even REflashed my drive back to the original firmware because i was afraid I'd gotten it wrong! All you Nero worshippers seeem to overlook that it's ALWAYS been buggy as hell. How about the fact that it places things in WHATEVER folder it wants when dragging items into a burn session? That's happened on about a good one third of my burns. Then there's famous "AWOL" it occassionally does while leaving our burner running and yet (very sensibly) keeping it's own clock ticking while it's doing nothing but waiting for you to figure out your making the world's most time-intensive coaster before you have to crash the whole machine in disgust! As for the folder issue: I'm not too picky so I just find the item wherever it is and I'm glad it's on disc and saved period, And I learned long ago to keep my eye open for the "AWOL" routine, but it goes to show that Nero is far from the divine burning salvation everyone chalks it up to be! Now with 7 they're following Roxio and hogging inordinate amounts of disc space as well! As for the Incd problem I'm having: it says something about "unable to follow shortcut...." Anybody know what that means??? Thanks!

p.s. the multisession discs it's wrecked are so messed up that not even Iso buster or cd roller can recover data from them!! I had several dvd's of good stuff that i attempted to continue in multisession and now all data is lost with every program saying "unrecognized file system" (even when I attempt to isolate the early sessions!) What In God's Name is it doing to those discs??? I've never seen anything like it, and I've messed up quite a few discs and even crashed a few OS's in my time. I've ran several spy/virus scans and so far nothing dubious is showing up, but just to be fair it could be anything, not necessarily a Nero issue... Anybody have an idea??

This is your current version of firmware: NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A> Version: 10FD
It should be 10GE.
Your current version for your litey is gdhg and should be gdhj.
And you still need to get rid of your serial number.
@tednor
Thats why I use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

The first link I gave you should have been a direct link but it doesn't seem to be working.
Anyway, go to RPC1.org , cut and paste this: ND-1100A and perform a download search. Do the same with the litey cut and paste this: LTD-163
Dude, take out yer damn serial#!!

Har, har, good one, 'you'.
But it's the 'Nero' forum, not the 'Nero Worshippers' forum, as most of the 'help wanted' posts here can attest..also if I were looking for an assist I think I would rein in the sarcasm a tad...
