this is my first post on this forum... quite exciting ;)
i just received my swapmagic3.6 cd/dvd + slide tool and tried my first backup: ssx on tour. obviously it didn't work as it needs rebuild, what i figured out reading other threads on this forum.
as i'm on mac (how silly is that !) i got hold of virtual pc 7, windows 2k, cd/dvd generator 2.0, iml2iso 1.2 and isobuster 1.6. i opened my iso in isobuster but couldn't extract the files for some reasons. i always got the following error:
"unreadable sector
sector 1610917 couldn't be read
error: 05/63/00"
so i thought i wasn't gonna use isobuster. i mounted my iso using toast 7 on mac, and copied the files from the mounted disc onto a new folder under virtual pc.
then i opened cd/dvd generator, imported the copied files one by one, in the same order as seen in isobuster and exported my iml files. it worked as mentioned in all the tutorials (i got the 2 errors and stuff).
eventually i used iml2iso to create my iso, but it said it couldn't find the file "ssx.ims 82244". so i edited my iml file with notepad and was surprised to see that ssx.ims was written on both the first and the last lines, and there was a number (not sure it's 82244, but it's something very similar) after it on the last line. i deleted the number manually. and it worked !!!
i burned my iso using toast 7 on mac, my external lacie dvd burner, and one of the dvds i'm always using for all kind of backup, speed 4x.
got very excited, turned on my ps2, launched swapmagic, swapped my dvd, then got the error "not a valid ps2 disc". damn it !!! ;)
i guess too many things weren't wrong for it to work (the isobuster, the editing of the iml file, the switch between mac and virtual pc). i already read dozens of articles about backups, iso rebuild and stuff, but couldn't get it work.
i also tried toc refresh with the original of god of war, but it also says "not a valid ps2 disc" (silly, it's the original !!!). and i'm pretty sure i used the slide tool correctly: tried many times, and i always make sure to lock the dvd after swapping.
so could someone help me with that, or maybe just upload an already rebuilt iso for this game somewhere ?
