getting not enough room on 4.7 DVD+R Disc error

Hi, I'm using a Memorex 16X DVD+R burner. Followed DVDencryptor instructions exactly. Updated ASPI files. Using Nero 6. After ripping DVD and writing DVD to hard drive:
First problem: Instructions tell me to use *.DVD file but forced to choose *.MDS file.
2nd Problem: After selecting *.MDS file and selecting to burn to DVD I get error message "There doesn't appear to be enough room on this disc"
Question: This is a dual layer burner. When it reads the 4.7 DVD it says it's capacity is around 2.22GB
What am I doing wrong or what's the source of my problem?

please give more info on pc ( operating sys,hardware, and software). by the way u wouldnt happen to be using memorex media as well?

It sounds as though you are trying to burn a 8.5gb rip onto a 4.5gb disk. Did you rip a commercial disk for backup and then try to burn it back to a blank single layer disk rather than a double layer disk? You'll have to use DVD Shrink or Nero Recode or one of the commercial programs to reduce the file size for a SL disk or burn to a double layer disk.
