Your Nero is out of date, current version is 6.6.0.16.
Quote:
CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST CD-ROM GCR-8483B atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off
Your DMA is off here is how you can fix this, it is a guide written by Alkohol:

((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" it's driver ?for Win XP users?))

A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER", left click on "PROPERTIES"
B) left click on "HARDWARE", left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
C) left click on + sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
D) double left click on your DVD burner or your dvd-rom drive
E) left click on "DRIVER", left click on "UNINSTALL", you will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system", just click "OK", now "SHUTDOWN" or "restart" your computer
F) once you restart your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner?s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!

NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "uninstall" it from the ?IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers?

(A) left click on + sign of "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers"
(B) double left click on either Secondary or Primary IDE Channel (burner's driver are usually "Secondary Channel")
(C) click on "DRIVER", "UNINSTALL", "OK" and then "shutdown" or "restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!
***NOTE: you have to know where your "DVD Burner" or "DVD-ROM drive" is installed to what Channel). Usually it's the "Secondary IDE Channel" because your "C: drive or Hard Drive" would be the main aka Primary IDE Channel already. If you're not sure, then you need to check it with "Nero Toolkit" first before you "uninstall" any of them. Once you verify with Nero Toolkit, then you can continue with the above steps.

That is a classic signature of CMC crap. Nothing in drive, or illegal disc (they really should be illegal to sell). You are lucky it stopped you now, instead of telling you you had a successfull burn, and finding out months later, it wasn't such a great burn after all. Don't even try to use this stuff, unless you have no other choice, and very few of us are limited to no other choice.

Have you tried to burn a CD with Window's Media Player, iTunes, or RealPlayer? Any success if so?
Quote:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.12
Also noticed this, current version of Nero is 6.6.0.18, as stated by GlueEater. Update Nero and your problems may be solved.

Here is the Nero update link:http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

Package one and two is what you need I believe.

DMA is still off on that drive, and needs to be ON.
How to fix it:
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking%20DMA.pdf
Make sure you reboot when you un-install the driver and windows will install the driver on rebooting.
Some of the main things pointed out here need to be fixed. The version of Nero you are using, Use good media, and fix the DMA on that drive. Any one of these things could stop you from getting a good burn.

If all else fails. Look into updating the controler in your system.
Quote:
File 'Drivers\ADPU160M.SYS': Ver=v3.60a
I think it is up to version 3.64 now but may still be 3.63x where the x means some letter.

To update it may depend on is it build on the motherboard, is it oem, or is it truely an adeptec controler card added in the system.

cool re trying without the song, however re DMA, all drives will be dragged down to PIO mode ie the CD-rom drive is affecting things

Now that last log says you didn't update Nero 6. That is why i said that. In all the posts you stick with vers 6.6.0.12. and that vers is behind.. All those logs list 6.6.0.12. If you had updated to vers 6.6.0.18 it would have shown it as updated in the last log. I are confused.. You said

Are you saying you updated Nero vers 6? because that log doesn't say you did. I am not trying to get you mad, or implying you are dumb, just trying to get things straightened out for you, and the Nero version needs to be updated. Yes, your drive could be flakey, but try to get Nero updated first. It may be just the old version of Nero causing problems. Ok?

I feel for you with dial up. Nero 7 was 101MB and Nero 6 packages were something like 30 something MB each and you needed 2 of them. Try DLing late at night, overnight as it will take 4ever to get these.
http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php try that one first.
http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-demo.php if you want to go to Nero 7 and have lots of time to DL. :)
It could be the old version of Nero is your only problem now. Hopefully the update will have you burning again. Post a log back if the new version still fails. We will get thru this, hopefully without costing you a new drive.
