When installing Nero 7 Ultra. I get an error message. It says Internal Error Custom Action Dll Crashed in last call in function Nero_AgExecPreInstallTasks. The installer must now exit. Crash Thread ID 1480 Current thread id is 3080.
Before I started to get this message. I just let the cd autorun and it got to the installing screen and it just sat there. No activity on the drive whatsoever. I ended processes restarted and tried again. That is when I got the above error message.
Please help. Nero support has been of no help.

I don't know the answer, but what do you mean when you say "Nero support has been of no help."? Do you mean the phone support? email? Or just the material on the web Nero.com/nero7/enu/Tech_Support.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://ww2.Nero.com/nero7/enu/Tech_Support.html ?

I fixed it! I ended up deleting the folder the installer was creating in application data, doing a complete reg hack, disabled my antivirus and it went in like a champ. Who needs Nero support?

Hello. Ive been getting the same roblem with Nero 7 Ultra that you were getting Internal Error Custom Action Dll Crashed in last call in function Nero_AgExecPreInstallTasks. The installer must now exit. Crash Thread ID 1480 Current thread id is 3080.
I am not a Techie and would very much appreciate it if you could tell me what i need to do to be able to install it. I have deleted all the Nero stuff in my Registry and re-tried it but i keep getting the same message.

Try this:
While the installer is open to the page where you put in the user, company, and serial, open regedit and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info
Then modify all the registry entries there to match what you have on the installer page. Naturally, the serial will have to be consistent (according to the installer) with the name.

Thanks for that idea but my installation doesnt get to the page where you put in the user, company, and serial. I keep getting the Internal Error Custom Action Dll Crashed in last call in function Nero_AgExecPreInstallTasks. The installer must now exit. Crash Thread ID 1480 Current thread id is 3080 message before that. It only gets to the preparing to install stage and then that message comes up.

I don't have any issues during the installation process whatsoever.
Just out of cursiosity, did you downloaded Nero 7 Ultra (Nero 7 Demo) directly from Nero's website or did you downloaded it from somewhere else? I suggest you re-download the file (Nero 7 Ultra) again and give it another shot.

If that is the case, then there is a "possibility" that your Nero 7 Ultra zip or exe setup file maybe corrupted, and or it may even be infected with virus, bugs, etc.
I suggest you do the following before you're going to download the Nero 7 Ultra Demo directly from Nero's website.
Here's what you need to do, get these programs below to run in "Safe Mode or Safe Boot" to wipe out any virus, trojan, adwares, spywares, etc., then go to www.Nero.com and download it's Nero 7 Ultra and try to install again.
(To run your computer in "Safe Mode/Boot for Windows XP")
1) click on START, RUN then type msconfig and hit OK
2) click on BOOT.INI and put a [check mark] on \SAFEBOOT and click OK
3) now your computer should restart automatically.
4) now run the below programs/applications to wipe out any spywares, adwares, virus, trojans, etc.
http://www.reviewlocator.com/download-61/ ZoneAlarm Free
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 AVG Free Edition
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Spybot - Search & Destroy (free)

You're welcome. I'm glad you're able to get things sorted out now. Yeah, for Nero, I've always recommend downloading directly from Nero's website instead of downloading from some where else because you'll never know when someone may have put a virus, trojan, spyware on the zip or exe. file, know what I mean.
Good luck and happy burning..!!
