I have 4 DVD-r's that I want to copy (they are of a TV series recorded from TV, as such I can directly access the Video_TS files) - when I play the original in my PS2 it cuts out after a while and says disc undreadable, and some discs wont play at all.
However they play fine on my DVD writer on my PC and on my laptop - no problems.

If I want to copy the originals and make them playable on my PS2 and normal players, is it best to either just do a copy DVD from Nero (they fit without compression obviously), or copy the Video_TS files to my hard drive, then copy them out to a DVD - which will give best results, and will this eliminate the skipping \ not playing in my PS2 and other players?

I figure since I can read them in my DVD writer, if I right them out to quality media (I think the problem), they will more likely play on the PS2 - any ideas?

thanks

Yes I would say quality media and burning at less than max speed (maybe 4X) will likely help the playback in your PS2.

Why not just rip an iso file with DVD Decrypter (mode ISO Read) and then burn the ripped iso file with Decrypter (mode ISO Write). Should be very fast, likely under 30 minutes per disk, ripping and burning combined.

You might want to check to be sure your target size is no more than 4.3 or 4.35GB to avoid burning to the edge of the disk. You'll have to use Shrink if your size is over that (be sure to set the Shrink target size as custom and enter the size).

The Copy Disk function in Nero should work as well. Just make sure that Max isn't the burn speed selected in Nero. There really isn't a need to rip files since you want an exact copy and Nero would have to create another image (iso) file from the video files anyway.

Your problem is a combination of the quality of the master, the quality of the media, burn rate and the reader. Computer readers are usually great. Since they can read OK it is the quality of the image that is the problem. Try holding the master up to a good light. Are there any smudges? The easiest thing to do is clean the surface of the master real well, and slow the burn rate.
