hey wise people... i hope you can help me here :D

first to let you know i already read the 2 guides about torrents and configuring bitcomet...

now my problem:

i just got a router (d-link 624+) and set it up today... it works great... no problems, no disconnections with normal use... i can play games, host, chat, surf, even use emule to download and still fine...

BUT once i open bitcomet and click on start for a torrent... internet is gone... and seems like the router resets or crashes...

ports are all opened... i used to download fine with bitcomet... but now don't know why it doesn't work...

i applied the winxp sp2 patch that changes tcp/ip connections from 10 to 50... don't know if that's the reason (but it used to work even with that patch)

any ideas? thanks for the help...

Please ensure your that your upload speed in bitcomet isn't set to the maximum (or "Unlimited") - set it to around 80% of your maximum upload speed.

Additionally, if you set it to 80% and find the Internet is still unusable - then drop the uplaod speed from 80% to perhaps 70%, then test again. Repeat this until you find an acceptable compromise.

The above is assuming one possible (but likely) problem.

Another solution I suggest is to change clients - give Azureus a go.

Also, check the router settings - things might have reset. Same goes for firewall settings.

You know that rare phenonomon when after hours and hours and hours of troubleshooting, things just just magically work and you have no idea why? Just gotta love it! ;-)

i checked all settings and they are set as recommended... upload speed was set to 80%

it's not that internet becomes slow... the router just crashes and not even bitcomet works...

how do i set the incoming connections thing?

Hi All

Now LISTEN CLOSLY> HERE IS HOW TO FIX YOUR PROBLEMS. It has notting to do with your firewall or anti-virus...forget all that. The problem is with SP2. Microsoft added a tcpip limit in the tcpip.sys. It causes your connection to overflow and sometimes crash. It makes it slow for sure and makes it impossible to browse when downloading torrents. Ok here is the fix for it. Very easy, you just have to change the tcpip limit. The following patch changes it from 10 to 50. I found I was still having problems so I changed it to 1000. This just makes it the same has removing it. With that, problem solved. hoo...here is the patch

When it askes top change to 50, enter c and put 1000, then enter and then reboot. Problem FIXED.

Have fun guys
