I have an external dvd burner, I don't know if that has anything to do with why I'm having problems, but I bought nero..and I have ripped my dvds on to dvd shrink and then tried to burn them on nero and everytime i get an error. I followed the instructions on here..and I also tried to rip with dvd shrink and then burn with dvd decrypter..but it also failed around 19%. However, it will let me burn videos that I have downloaded, so I have no idea what the problem is and it's driving me nuts! I have tried everything, and I am at a dead end so if someone could please help me!

let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.
You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

@KeLBeLLe9 - have requested your thread here -
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/257788#1449488 be closed as it's in effect a multipost which is against forum rules. However i've analysed the logfile from that thread and answered it here for you..
Quote: 1a23-********************
- EDIT OUT your serial number
Quote: Nero API version: 6.3.1.18
- Nero's too old, latest 6.x version is 6.6.0.18, download
"update package 1" from here - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/nero-up.php - you may want to pick the version without the Yahoo toolbar
Quote: Recorder: <TOSHIBA CD/DVDW SD-R5372>Version: TU53
- burner's firmware is a few versions behind, TU56 is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1971
Quote: Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ?
- as your burner is external to the PC that question mark is fine
Quote: Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 11
Drive is autodetected - recorder class: DVD+R9 DL recorder
- yup, Nero is too old to recognise your burner, update Nero
Quote: Physical memory : 447MB (458092kB)
Free physical memory: 101MB (103900kB)
Memory in use : 77 %
- you need to close down more programs prior to ALL dvd work/burning to free up more memory
Quote: Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2287215 (508:16.15, 4467MB)
- 4467MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space

- what on earth kind of discs are those, have never heard of them, get decent media
Quote: Insert empty disc to write to.
(Medium in drive: unknown. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R9 Double Layer.)
- what's happened there ?
Quote: Sense Key: 0x00 (KEY_NO_SENSE)
- sorry i just love this error!
Quote: Unspecified target error
- follow ALL other suggestions

- InCD is Nero's horrid 'packet writing software', uninstall Nero then uninstall completely via Nero's Clean Tools, then reinstall Nero WITHOUT installing InCD. you have to update Nero anyway...

You still have InCD installed you need to remove this program it causes conflicts

I feel like such an idiot that I can't get this to work! I followed your suggestions, I bought Maxell DVD+R and when I tried to burn it went all the way to 40% before it failed, which is much further than it has gone before. I don't know why it says that I am using so much memory, because I close all of my running programs!! I also deleted InCD. Please look at my latest log and tell me what I'm doing wrong.
