Hey all, sorry for such a dumb arse newbie question!

My family owns a new-ish Dell computer (1 dvd burner and 1 cd rom), and a Toshiba SD-2500 dvd player, and I cant seem to run my new Maxell dvd-ram disc on either (recorded on a Hitachi DZ-MV730E vid camera). Im praying I dont have to go out and buy a whole new player or burner, but im also assuming I will have to, as Ive tried the discs in both to no success.

Is there any computer wizzards on here who can answer my query in a few simple steps?

Its pissing me off becuase I bought the cam today with the guy telling me "You can put the discs into any DVD player or DVD drive and it'll work straight away", convincing me not to take the cam with usb or the new jvc everio g series. ("if someone steals it, youve lost everything!")

thanks for your help in advance!

-Ryan
