Nero Digital 5.1 surround sound on DVD player

Simple qeustion really. Is there a DVD player out there that can play nero digital in 5.1?

Or is this wishfull thinking?

Hi there Rudie, welcome to aD,

To answer your question, no, players don't play digital sound. A player passes the Audio and Video on to an amplifier. If you wish to listen to Digital sound, you have to buy a special Digital receiver/ amp. Normally, pple pass the signal on to the amp in their TV sets, as the vast majority of TV?s are not equipped with a Digital Amp you listen to the Dolby 5.1. If you edit a movie and remove all the sound EXCEPT the Digital sound track, your likely to have a movie without any sound at all.

Very few pple have digital sound as it's a high-end sound system generally setup with center speakers, L & R forward speakers, a sub woofer and at least a L & R rear speakers. Digital sound is exactly what you have in a movie theater.

Again, DVD players pass the sound on to a surround sound amplifier OR a Digital amplifier. If you don?t have a separate Digital amp, the Digital sound track will be of no value.

So, where do you think the sound comes form? The DVD in the player? What i meant was, is there a dvd player play a Nero digital file with a 5.1 soundtrack instead of 2.0 (stereo).

Try making a nerodigital file in the standard profile, you will note it only supports 2.0 sound. The cinema profile does support 5.1 sound.

So to be more precise, is there a player out there that can play nerodigital files in the cinema profile?

So if there were only a digital sound track, you wanted it to take that track and play it in 5.1 ?

I think it can play only what's on the DVD. Players only read what?s there, they cannot alter OR add anything.

Not being a high-end surround sound buff, most anything is possible -

Perhaps some of our more knowledgeable members will weigh in with what's up on the sound front.

It's bad enough that Sony's DRM is infecting your PC with a Rootkit, when they start making "smart" standalones that will play selectable "default" audio tracks, by that time it would be infested with so many other anti-copyright add-on's, I for one, would never buy one. Too much "bad" to ever out-way any possible good.
