During the install of Nero 7.0.1.2 it will throw the following errors (see image):
The errors will occur in order from top to bottom of the image above. It seems that the DllRegisterServer has something to do with it and *.dll registration problems, I just don't understand it. The good thing is the install completes and nero seems to work fine or does it?
Prior to attempting to install the Nero 7 Demo I uninstalled version 6 and ran all the clean tools offered by nero (which are horrible, made-to-screw-up-your-computer-so-you-spend-lots-of-time-fixing-the-mess cleaning tools) and I tested the MD5 checksum and it all checked out. I tried to disable firewalls, turn off antivirus programs, and the like, but still would get those errors everytime.
Hope someone can help...

Hummm.... it does sounds strange indeed. It looks like "it's unable to register" or something. I don't know why people are having so much issues with Nero 7 , but mine (Nero 7 Premium) is working beautifully or should I called it "sweet." Even my old Nero 6 Ultra Edition 6.6.0.16 is burning flawlessly.
Maybe you should do one last uninstall by using Nero's General Clean Tool, and search via "regedit" for any Nero left over/related files, then delete it. Now try download and install the latest from Nero 7 (without InCD or other junks) and see if you'll have a successful installation. If the errors continue to exist, I suggest you contact Nero Support for more help.

I got it to install finally - see the cdrlabs thread for details.
Out of curiosity, what antivir and firewall etc are you running? Any other "security" software (like Adaware ad-block etc)?
Try disabling them all and then try installing Nero 7.
It WorkedForMe(R).

I'm running the McAfee Antivirus and McAfee Firewall but have tried to disable both prior to installing Nero 7.0.1.2 but still no luck to getting those errors to disappear.
Also, I've tried to use Selective Startup in the System Configuration such that I disable "Load Startup Items" and leave all others checked but I still get those errors, which means that all programs, including my antivirus and firewall are automatically disabled on startup.
When I said that I get the errors near the end of the install, I mean that I get them after it says "Removing Backup Files" and when the progress bar is one block away from completion.
I have also reviewed the CDRLabs.com article and see that someone mentioned something about ActiveX blocker. To my understanding ActiveX blocker is only enabled on Internet Explorer, am I right or wrong? Is the blocking of ActiveX scripts in Internet Explorer a global thing on my PC, such as installing Nero 7 as well?

Dunno about McAfee - usually there is some option actually within the software's prefs to disable realtime scanning - you'll have to check.
WRT - ActiveX: yes it is a component of IE, but then IE is integral to Windows (has been since W98/SE) so even if an IE Browser window isn't open, that doesn't mean an app (like an installer) isn't hooking into IE shared libs (such as ActiveX) - in fact many do. Therefore blocking ActiveX may be the cause - dunno - I didn't run a trace on the installer until *after* I'd already disabled Outpost, NOD32 and Ad-Block.
BTW: ActiveX blocking is available as a plugin to Outpost firewall, and yeah that was *my* post on CDRLabs.
I'm not saying that any of this has anything to do with ActiveX, just that I tried *everything* to get this to work, and that was one of those things.
My best guess is that my antivir is blocking the installer's access to a shared component during a phase of the install where libraries are being selected/optimised for the target system. Why? I dunno, but a later trace revealed that all the "missing" CABs were actually present, but truncated (corrupted), so either NOD32 and/or Outpost's anti-Spyware plugin thought the activity suspicious and blocked it.
I still stand by my comment on CDRLabs that this new version of Nero is a POS, and frankly I am severely disappointed, since traditionally Nero was always the better alternative to Adaptec/Roxio stuff - mainly because it was more reliable and less bloated. With Nero 7, it would seem, the opposite is now true.
Shame.

haven't re-read the entire thread yet, just saw the mcafee reference. whilgt i don't use Nero 7 (strictly a 6.x person myself) i run mcafee on all my machines, permanently, whether i'm burning, shrinking, etc etc etc - zero problems for me and i've been using mcafee for a few years.
however that's just me, not dismissing your suggestions, just supplementing the advice/offering my five pence..

It does appear to only be a problem with Nero V7, not V6.

Nero 7.0.1.4 came out the other day so I thought I would give it try. I began the install and once it reached the end of the install it still threw the dll register errors. Well the software still works so i'm not complaining.
