Does this program install ghost files somewhere? I need to do the ripping and encoding on my good computer and don't want any type of hidden files to slow it up. I tried to rip my dvd last night and it went successfully but upon playback (rip only) my video is jumpy and had audio cracks/dropouts. Upon playing just the real DVD thru my computer I had jerky video playback and lots less audio problems, so I am gather my computer is too slow. 500 K6-2 w/312 ram.

I like to set DVD2SVCD so that they put all the files needed into c:\movies so that none can be hiding on me. What did you use as your encoder for the backup??

Dela, I never got to the decoder section. I just wanted to rip then go from there. I will try my better computer this Sunday. Do you know how to rip with seperate files instead of one continuous VOB?

I think I already have smart ripper that I got with DVDCopyPlus Program. When I used that program my output looked so small. What I want to do is rip the dvd into mpeg2 then decide if I want to convert to mpeg1 with a bitrate of about 2000. I want to rip music videos into seperate files, play them with my program on my computer and output the video to a TV or a video projector on a large screen.

Video Projector?? cool :) Then when you rip the files why dont you just watch them in WinDVD and you should be able to project it, if you have tv output on your computer that is ;-)

That is why I went to the DVD2SVCD with the internal ripper and I will use the TMPG for the encoder.

The program I will use to play either mpeg2 or mpeg1 will be Swift by Tryannasoft. This is the beginning of the Swift series called Swift Lite. It will automatically fade in/out both vid and aud between each other for continuous play.

I just don't know if i want to use a high bitrate of mpeg1 or just stay with mpeg2. Can't make my mind up yet. I must see the difference in quality first and compare it to file size.

Yes, seems to me like it would give me the cleanest and best output. I just wonder how large the file will be and how large/many hard drives i will need eventually.

Ye I know what you mean, if you must convert it then convert it to mpeg-4 divx. that will be a very good quality encoidng and small enough in size!

That was my first choice but everybody said it is not vj compatible just go for the mpeg1 with about a 2000 bitrate. As you can see, me with no clue what I am doing, it makes me more confused. If I do convert to mpeg1 or mgep4 which program would you think is better, my DVD Copy Plus which has an external ripper or with the DVD2SVCD program which has the internal ripper? If you thing the later program, do you know how I make seperate files (VOB's)? I can't move on the the converting process until I can get the ripping part down pat. I really thank you for all your help.
