VE2 Freezes when adding AVI's

Hi, this is my first post, I see countless problems with Vision Express, but none that relate to mine. Up until about 2 months ago everything was fine. now when i add avi's to the create new DVD option, VE2 freezes with a grey blanked out box where the "adding <filenam> to compilation" box should be :( I have tried VE3 but to no avail,besides i prefer v.2.....If someone could point me in the right dirextion to a fix or forum post, i would be eternally gratefull.

Ps when it freezes and i choose "Close Program", then you get "send error report", "Dont Send" blahh blahh and the error at the top just says "nonresponsive program".

I have even tried re-installing Nero, Formatting and re-installing XP Pro, but nothing works
