The main problem from what I see in your log is
Compilation cannot be written on that medium type.
(Medium in drive: CD-R. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL.)
Disc not empty. Insert empty disc.
(Medium in drive: DVD+R. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL.)
It seems you try to use a cd first then a dvd that is not blank second. Being new at this you may want to get a rw disk to test with until you get some use under the belt. I also see you have incd installed on your system while some have no problem with it on theres many have problems with it conflicting.
You also should go through the log you posted and remove the product key. It is the set of numbers and letters right under ====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ======

Enabling DMA to On would definitely help you out. For more information. Here's a great guide created by bbmayo:
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking%20DMA.pdf (you'll need a program such as Adobe Acrobat to view this .pdf file)

InCD has been known to conflict with other Nero apps. You can use this tool from Nero to get rid of InCD:
ftp://ftp9.nero.com/attach/InCD-CleanTool.zip
Quote: Nero Version: 6.6.0.15
The last version of Nero 6 is 6.6.0.18. Just download the first package. Uncheck the option for the Yahoo! toolbar if you do not need it.

I had trouble locating any information of this particular drive. It could be a rebadged burner.

@amosco13 - looks like you're in good hands here. as to your question here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/259536 the location of the logfile is this - it's in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but whenever you post a log, always just post the LAST section of the log and never post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.
You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"
all i can add, from the above logfile, is lack of free memory -
Quote: Physical memory : 509MB (522224kB)
Free physical memory: 6MB (7020kB)
Memory in use : 98
- 512MB is sufficient total memory, but you've used ALL of it up. make sure you close down more programs prior to ALL dvd work/burning, and when you're burning, step away from the computer and let it make a clean burn...

i'll add my reply here from another one of your threads to save you wasting any more discs troubleshooting this problem -
Quote: you don't need to waste blank discs you just use 'simulation burn'. when you go to hit 'burn', instead tick 'simulation burn' and untick 'burn', then Nero will go thru the motions with a blank disc but won't write to the disc, but will generate a new section of logfile for you or us to check
... the idea here is to not make you waste discs/money..

- just checked up top of thread, you have Burning Rom, not Express. either way, when you go to burn it will have 'simulation burn' listed...dunno why you can't find it..

Quote: CdRomPeripheral : HP DVD Writer 740b atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
- try this way of fixing DMA (be very careful with regedit) - Quote: Run REGEDIT. Go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
It has subkeys like 0000, 0001, 0002, etc. Normally 0001 is the primary IDE channel, 0002 the secondary, but other numbers can occur under certain circumstances. You have to go through these subkeys and check the DriverDesc value until you find the proper IDE channel.
Delete MasterIdDataChecksum or SlaveIdDataChecksum, depending on whether the device in question is attached as master or slave, but it can't actually hurt to delete both. Reboot. The drive DMA capabilities will be redetected.
Open Device Manager again and check whether the device is now actually using DMA mode. If so, congratulations, you've made it (at least until the next time Windows disables DMA).
Quote: Required file 'VIDEO_TS.BUP' is not present
DVD-Video files compliance test failed
DVD-Video files compliance ignored
- you've not done something quite right with preparing the movie, ie Nero's simply warning you that the files are not in DVD format ie 'non-compliant'. you need to make sure the movie files are in dvd format or this will keep happening.
Quote: Process not possible as simulation not possible on media
- i've not seen that error before i don't think, but at least it's meaningful. maybe try formatting the rewritable and try again. i'm off home now but will be online again in about an hour... good luck....

i'm home. right.... let's try this - check this page - http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html - maybe your IDE ribbon cable for that HP burner isn't up to the job - just have a look at the piccies in that link....
plus obviously there's still the compliance problem, but maybe if we just stick to the DMA problem for now...

Your name sounds familiar, and or I thought I saw a thread posted by you with DMA issues.
Quote: Recorder: <HP DVD Writer 740b> Version: DC24
CdRomPeripheral : HP DVD Writer 740b atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
If both of Creaky and my guide "failed" to bring/enable your DMA back On, then there's definitely something wrong. Did you "restart" your computer right away by chance after "uninstalling" both of your HP burner's driver and Secondary Channel driver? I strongly deemed that if any of your "Transfer Mode" is in PIO Mode only, then it should be able to fix/enable DMA by "uninstalling" its driver. Again, here it is.
((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" its driver ?for Win XP users? by alkohol))
Here are some helpful pictures for references.
A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER," left click on "PROPERTIES"
B) left click on "HARDWARE," left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
C) left click on + sign of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
D) double left click on either ?Primary? or ?Secondary IDE Channel?
E) left click on "DRIVER," left click on "UNINSTALL"
You will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system," just click "OK," now "SHUTDOWN" or "Restart" your computer
F) once you restarted your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner?s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!
**NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "Uninstall" it from the ?DVD/CD-ROM Drives?
****at Device Manager****
(A) left click on + sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
(B) double left click on your DVD burner or your DVD-ROM drive
(C) click on "DRIVER," "UNINSTALL," "OK" and then "Shutdown" or "Restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!

@creaky
How's it going buddy? I've noticed you've been busy lately trying to catch up on Nero's logs.
I've tried to help out some Newbies, but it seems like some of them (got scared... lol) don't even reported back to see what's going on (it's alright though, I guess that's their choice). Some Newbies had pm me with a "thanks for the help" when their problem is solved, which is nice. I guess I'm trying to limit myself in Nero's forum. Perhaps, I just want to give you a hand, so you don't have to answer 10 - 15 threads in a row - know what I mean, lol.
