I am currently using Azureus as my client and an add-on ethernet card for my broadband connection. My motherboard (DFI LanParty Pro 875B Rev. B+) has onboard CSA Gigabit LAN features also and I was wondering if I would get better speeds and/or performance overall working with bittorrent programs and files if I used the onboard Gigabit Lan connection? Please someone ANSWER me for once! And if I would benefit more from the gigabit lan and decide to make the switch, should I uninstall, re-install and reconfigure Azureus after that point? PLEASE!!!! Noone has been replying to ANY of my recent posts! What is up with this former favorite informative forum web site!?

LOL...............I dont personally know, but you sound frustrated. I know how irritating it is to ask a question somewhere and not get ANY response.

Well, the fact that I helped out more than a fair share of people with questions on this site doesn't make it any easier to accept!

Ok, you're mobo has the INtel 875P chipset - from guessing. (just a tidbit of info ;-)

ANyway, switching to Gigabit won't make a differnece to bitorrent speeds, as the difference is that you get 1000Mbps vs 100Mbps MAX speed.

BitTOrrent hasn't even reached 100Mbps speeds yet (ADSL2+ is maxes out at 24Mbps).

SO, NO you will not see a speed difference, however, you should use the Onboard ethernet (Gigabit) for two reasons;
1. Faster is better right? (maybe not in the case of BT, but theres no harm in changing)
2. Previous onboard gigabit ran off the PCI bus - which meant it had to share bandwidth with all the other devices on the PCI bus - the 875P chipset moves the gigabit thernet OFF the pci bus - hence, allowing it to fully utilises its own bandwidth without having to share with other PCI devices.

You know that rare phenonomon when after hours and hours and hours of troubleshooting, things just just magically work and you have no idea why? Just gotta love it! ;-)
