I also have LimeWire Pro,I would recomend that you stick with this because 'IT SIMPLY IS THE BEST' because I have tried the other file sharing programs and I say this is the best.I would say don't use Kazaa at all,it is full of viruses, spyware and adware etc.

I am just curious why you mention

Torrents are by far the best way of filesharing...
But anyway, Limewire Pro is where I like to leech the odd song, seeing as it's getting so poor with fake files etc that I don't wanna risk getting my ass sued using it...

Has any1 tried uTorrent? I am using it at the moment (instead of Azeureus), and so far i find it workng away quite happily. I was finding that AZ was slowing my PC up so anything is worth a go.
Bart803 -- i used to use bitlord when it first came out but bined it after a while. i find that it isn't very good at uploading compared to AZ, or uTorrent or Bit Tornado (need to keep my share ratio up!!). How many torrents are you downloading at a time? what is you download speed through the cable? The speed will aloso depend on the number of seeds and peers on the tracker, the more there are the faster it will go.

usually im downloading like 2 or 3 torrents. but right now im only downloading 1 and i still happy a crappy download speed, my cable hsi connection rate is 4Mbs. so u think i should dump bitlord for AZ, Utorrent, or bit tornado, ill try it then and see if it helps, thanx

it does no harm to try. what is the seeds and peers on the torrent? have you got your upload set so that you are sharing as much as possible? I am no expert on this, but i have seen very healthly torrents and only got a slow download speed and i have read all the stickies. Other factors could be the time of day you are accessing your isp, the contention ratio of your connection, etc, etc. i am on 1meg broadband in the UK and get varying speeds. what i find is that the healthy torrents take over the connection to the expense of less healthy ones, and it could also be the part of the file you are bringing down as well. Not much help i know, but i would reccomend you try uTorrent (available for download from this site), as it appears to be a good proggie for me so far. have fun and let me know how you get on (pm if you wish).

@Bart803, I would recommend getting invites to invite ONLY sites, these require you to keep a ratio (usually just 1.0 which is BT standards) so almost every torrent on those sites are seeded. Demonoid is good, most people are a member of that site.
Make sure when you download torrents that the seeders EXCEEDS the number of leechers, although not always, in most cases the reason downloads go slow is that the number of leechers to seeders is >3:1.
A couple of other things:
If your running though a router make sure to foward the ports, you can figure out how to do that here:
http://www.portforward.com/
Also, NEVER use the default Torrent ports, most ISPs are monitoring these and throttle the default ports. They may even kick you off there network. Use something over 50k for your port number.
I am using uTorrent right now, its REALLY good, its only a small .exe ~107 KB. Its an ENTIRE client, with 99% of the features of other popular torrent clients.
I HIGHLY recommend it, I use to use Azureus but, it was a resource hog and kind of unstable (due to it being run via Java).
Get uTorrent here:
http://www.utorrent.com/
Peace,
Pop Smith
P.S. sorry its kind of off-topic, I just thought I would throw out some BT pointers!

I get good d/l speeds w/ABC,sometimes average 100kb/s or more depending on seeders and leechers.
I've heard of Demonoid. Is the site invite-only? I usually use ISO Hunt to search for any torrents I'm interested in.

celticfc, i have just had the pleasure of wiping a computer due to the crap that is bundled with bearshare. any program that requires you to install adware/spyware is not worth the hassle. That is the reason most people are against using Kazza. each to their own, but i am a big fan of torrent downloading.
