Has anyone had a problem backing up 'King Kong'? I've tried both -r and +r to no avail. I used NERO at 2.4 to do a copy. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

What media are you using?

1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, etc.

3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

Kong is actually only 1.2 GB. But I've had trouble burning this game as well. But I'm using swao magic 2.0 and a burnt copy of 3.0 so that might have something to do with it.

Yeah, I copied it onto my hard drive this morning. Haven't burned it yet. I'll let you know. 1.2 does seem awfully tiny, but we'll see. hopefully it works.

This is for everyone who is having trouble booting King Kong. I had the same problem you have to use dvd loader with swap magic to get it to boot this is what I did and it works perfect. I am using SM 2.0 with fliptop. Try this it should work! Also stop hating on Memorex discs Ive been using these forever and never have a problem my backups are perfect.

That's great. Memorex has caused so many people problems. CMC Magnetics is the worst manufacturer of media in the world. I will bash Memorex DVD-R's until the end of time. They are horrible. If you want your PS2 to crap out in a year from cheap dyes, then go ahead. I'll stick with Taiyo Yuden. The rest of you should as well.

So do you think I should get SM 3.6? I really want this game to work.I use SM 2.0 but that doesn't seem to work on my old ass PS2.
I am trying to get DVDLoader that works with my version 1-6 PS2 but all I can find is DVDloader v7 which won't work on my PS2. Any Ideas?

You may want to try Zone Loader. I'm not sure which versions PS2 it's compatible with. You can find it here: http://www.ps2nfo.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1833
You have to register, but it's free.

Good News I successfully backed up King Kong.In case anyone is interested here is what I did.

1.I made an MDS file with Alcohol 120%
2.I burned the file with alcohol 120%
3.I started up my PS2 using Swap Magic 2.0 and when prompted to I inserted Zoneloader using the slide card.
4.I then inserted King Kong and pressed start and presto here he comes to wreck havok.King Kong himself.

Hope this helps guys.

I have problems with king kong on a modded ps2 slimline.
The game boots up and plays ok but the sound jerks and echoes.
Also before I start the game I hear a suspicious beep before it checks my memory card.
I'm using TDK discs. I used DVD Decrypter to dump and burn at 4x.

When I looked at ISO buster though I noticed that the game track is track 2. Whenever I used Nero, decrypter or alcohol they burn the track as track 1. Is there a way to modify this track number?

Just burn it with Nero at 4x on 8x capable discs using "burn image to disc" option.

I backed that game up, and any others perfectly every time using Nero at 4x on good quality 8x DVD-R discs.

4x speed is ok but I suggest you burn at 8x as this will eliminate any skipping problems with both video and audio.

just burnt king kong, havent played it all the way through but it burnt fine and seems to play fine with no glitches or skipping
i have an H2O mod chip and used Nero express to burn it with no problems
just opened Nero, switched to Nero express and clicked on copy entire disc.
wondered why it wrote so fast even though i set it to 3.1 speed, now i know as you guys say it is only 1.2Gb
thanks and hope this helps you somewhat

Generally 4x is a better speed to burn at than 8x. You'll get fewer CRC errors, PIF's, and POF's at 4x on quality 8x media. But you know your burner better than I do, so burn on. Peace.

I tried Nero at 6x (for some reason it wouldn't allow 4x) and it's working now. Thanks

If it wouldn't allow 4x, then I would think you're either using 16x discs, need a firmware update or both.. but glad you got it working anyway :)
