FUNAI drv-b2737 remote problem???

Hi, ive recently purchased this dvd recorder vcr combi, and the remote doesnt work properly once its all connected. The problem is that when i switch on my freeview box, i am no longer to able to use the vcr remote as there is no response i cannot change the channel or record anything. only the freeview remote works , it seems as if the freeview remote is overriding the vcr remote?? Does any1 know how to help, or has any1 experienced the same.
