I've seen a few members (or newbies) here are having trouble using DVD Shrink with the latest Nero 7. With that being said, my suggestion is that DVD Shrink is not compatible with Nero 7, so you need to go back to Nero 6 and it should be ok with DVD Shrink.

On the other hand, since you've already got Nero 7 on hand, why don't you just use Nero Recode 2 to encode/compress and take out any unnecessary junks (works just like DVD Shrink, but it's faster) and burn it with Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express?

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

alkohol,
There are dvd disks that are protected by CSS where DVD Shrink can rip the dvd disk while Nero Recode 2 cant rip it.
Up to now, DVD Shrink + Nero 6 will be still better than Nero 7 with recode 2 and after there is not much differences between Nero 7 and Nero 6.

@henryting

Hmmmm... I think you've misunderstood me somehow -- I was refering to the "encoding and burning" part that's all. On the other hand, I don't think DVD Shrink can handle any of the new release dvds with encrypted such as "ARccOS" and "RipGuard" due to DVD Shrink has been shutdown and can not be updated anymore.

I know that tons of members are having issues with Nero 7 with the combination of DVD Shrink. Therefore, I said, there is a possibility that DVD Shrink is not compatible with Nero 7 and or vice versa. And that's why I told him/her (monstirz) to go back to Nero 6, which obviously it should work fine with DVD Shrink.

I am not dissin' DVD Shrink in any way and believe me when I said it because I've used DVD Shrink in the past and I love it dearly, but honestly in my opinion, I think Nero Recode 2 is far more superior and it's more advanced. In addition, it's far faster when encoding via "Advanced Analysis" method. However, that's my perspective and preference when it comes to encoding and burning.

For dvd ripping, I'm with DVD Decrypter, andd yes... it is still the King Of Ripper (if you know how to use it, especially with a PSL and the help from VobBlanker and PgcEdit). Another good ripper is DVDFab Decrypter. :) cheers.

Nah... it ain't argument, it was just an explanation that's all. I'm cool and no hard feeling at all. Yes, DVD Shrink seems to work best with Nero 6 Ultra Edition. Cheers.. :)

Nero is poo. Although it is just about the only software that will burn a *real* ISO/UDF DVD Image, the program is too buggy.

Just use DVD Shrink to make an ISO image, and then burn it with either Alchohol 120% or DVD Decrypter, if you can't find DVD Decrypter, ask around a lot of people have it and you can get a copy "under the table" like.

Any program that will burn an ISO Image file will burn the ISO image made by DVD Shrink.

Also, I remember getting this error with Nero. The way I got around it, was that I used DVD Shrink on the files on the hard drive, and converted the VOB files to an ISO Image and burned it the way I said.

There are lots of ways around copoopy protection, basically, if you are making an exact digital image of a DVD then you are exercising your right to make copies of stuff you bought, and you can tell DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to not take off the protection. Doing it this way, you are excersising your right to burn copies of your DVD's

Also, using Alchohol 120% is probably the best way, as it makes a direct exact copy of the disk you are copying, and I have been able to copy everything from copy protected DVD's to Macintosh CD's with it, and the copies work in 90% of all units I have played the copies on.
