Are you useing a Router? Are you sure it's a Wireless 802.11a,b,g or n Router?!?! The PSP? will **ONLY** work with a WireLESS Router, and not that is Wired (i.e. 802.3).
As for the DNS. There are a few Address for PSP? Firmware v1.50 out there, try Google'ing for them! If your haveing problems with the Firmware 2.0 Browser the DNS should be the same IP Adress as your Router.

Strike that WEP or WPA (for Firmware 2.0), is perfectly ok for use with the PSP?. While WEP and WPA Encryption is not very strong it's still better then Broadcasting your Paswords & PIN's accross the Street for anyone to just intercecpt!
Just get the Key(s) from your Router, or ccreate a new One, if need be. and then give your PC / PSP? / XBOX? the same Key. So that it can then latter join your Network.

im pretty sure the psp only supports 802.11g (high speed) and not 802.11b/g (mixed speed).
I was told to change my sig so I did this.

[x] (Family Feud Buzzer Sound...)
Ohgh so sorry that was not the Answer we were looking for....
The PSP? uses the 802.11**b** (11Mb\s) Standard. And **NOT** the g 54 ~ 108Mb\s One.
As far a useing a mixed b\g setting that's purely a Router setting, I am not aware of any detrements to having this setting enabled. As the PSP is a b Device. But, the Netgear Gameing Adapter is a 54 g Device. and both work great with my Router (DT-Com 154 Basic3).

Your PSP? is likely misreading the SSID's and or Encryptions used. You might also have to try setting a combination of 192.168.x.x, as your your, Default Gateway \ DNS 1 & 2.

Sorry I don't hold well with IM's! =(
Besides I really don't know any more then I what I just told you. Most Routers use some form of 192.168.x.x as there IP Address this can be as simple as x.x.0.1 for some Routers while others might use x.x.2.1 or x.x.200.1. It's pataily up to the Manufacture and or Enduser to determine what the Routers' IP might be. If you know you which Router your trying to connect to. Then getting that info sould be as simple as a google search.
Otherwise I don't see how I could be of any help to you...

PRONUMERALS.
EDIT: aka "ANY NUMBER" or "WHAT YOU GOT" or "THE RESULT OF ALGEBRA WHEN YOU GET RID OF TRASH ON BOTH SIDES LIKE Ys AND Zs and GROUPING SYMBOLS.
EDIT: I read that some Wireless cards support Ad Hoc, and is required for Xlink Kai. EVerytime I do mine, it screws up my internet connection for some reason. Defect?
I was told to change my sig so I did this.

In Laymans terms 'x' is any Number from 0 (Zero) to 254 (Twohundred-Fifty-Four),...
Just what those Numbers might be? mostly depends on the unkown factor of which Router is used. Like I said some like a 192.168.0.1 IP Address while something else may prefer a 192.168.2.249 IP address. Most People may leave this bit as default. But, those Anal enough about there Security would likely be able to change the last Two sets of Numbers. Thuss preventing unwanted People from accessing there Pipe.
If you think you need a quick Studdy in DNS and or IP Settings for your PSP?. perhaps a quick trip to a Coffè Shop that offers Wi-Fi could help.

To libenja:
It's not about Ad-Hoc Mode. I think almost any 802.11a,b,g or n PCI Card can run in that Mode. It's about running in what is known as Promiscuous Mode. (My guess ~or understanding~), This is a hybred Infrastructure (Internetshreing (NIC2NIC), \ Ad-Hoc -> PSP? Mode, and unfortunatly only a very, VERY small number of Devices will allow it. And chances are damned good that you probably don't have any of 'em. While the list is that small....

IP Address: This is the unique Number (ususaly 192.168.x.x), the range of the this Address must match up with you Router. i.e. Your Router has the IP Address of 192.168.0.1 your PSP? should use 192.168.0.x
Subnet Mask: Useing the above as the exampe you'd set this to 255.255.255.0
Default Router: Simple this is your Routers' IP Address (I.e. 192.168.x.x)
Primary DNS; This can be tricky, as this can be either your Router IP again, or it could be the seperate IP address of some PSP Portal
Secoundary DNS: You shouldn't have to worry to much about this one. As the above would have this coverd.
