H.264 Conversions

I've looked at the guides but only the MPEG-4 conversion seems to work.

I've converted movies & clips into both H.264 and MPEG-4. They do convert into .mp4 files, however, when I try to drag the H.264 converted file into the iPod, it shows me the message that this cannot be played into my iPod, etc. But I drag the MPEG-4 converted file, it transfers in just fine.

I use the MPEG-4/320x240/768kbps Stereo/128 kbps format, MPEG-4 > CBR, Bitrate: 768kbps, 29.97 frames, 360x208 Resolution (for DVD movies), 1 Pass. That converts & transfers fine but when I switch the previous settings to H.264 format, it converts but will not go into the iPod.

I'd like to know how you can do a successful H.264 transfer. I think that the H.264 format looks slightly better when compared to the MPEG-4 format.
