My son had 1.5 and running emu's, then all of the sudden he had 2.01 but no idea where or how he got it. Do they automaticly upgrade from demo disc? or was it done by the network upgrade? Strange thing is, he is still able to play all the iso's off of his memory card, so he does still change games on the memory card. But he is still unable to play disc that require 2.0. I was going to let him upgrade to 2.0 because we can downgrade but it will not let him because it says the version he has is newer than the 2.0 he wants to put in. Any ideas???

The only logical answer is a Firmware Changer. The PSP? maybe reporting itself as a v2.01. But, it's just your Commen Garden Verity v1.50.
Let's see you try to run GTA:LCS, SOCOM or Crash Team Raceing (or other v2.0 ONLY UMD), on it!
My bet is it won't run...

yes that is correct, he cannot play 2.0 games on it like GTA, I think another one that he could not play was Need For Speed. Is there a way to change this (Firmware Changer) ???
Thanks in advance,
Dave

You simply can not run ~most~ Homebrew (without the Loader wich only works with a limited Mumber of Apps.), and or *.iso loadrs on anything at or above v2.0.
likewise you can not play V2.0 Games (i.e. GTA:LCS), on a v1.5. Because the UMD? can not be properly decrypted...
The only workarund at the moment is to just upgrade to v2.0 to play GTA, or other v2.0 Game's, and then downgrade (v1.5), again when you want to go back to Homebrew and or *.iso loading (v1.5 or lower),.
Those with Firmwares that are higher then v2.0 (e.g. v2.01, v2.50 or v2.60), will not be able to run Homebrew on there PSPs'?. Till some kind of workable Exploite can be found to allow the PSP? to either run Unsigned Code, or is Downgrade capable like the v2.0 Firmware....

Is there a way to change this firmware changer back to 1.5?
Like I said he still able to run iso's and brews. The fastloader is reporting it as a 1.5 but the psp thinks that is a 2.01. yet he is still unable to play games that require 2.0
