I'm considering buying one, but if it's not posible to play downloaded games in it then I'll stay away until the price comes down or try to get a version 2.0 or less.

Firstly, youshouldnt be downloading games !

Most units sitting in stores are actualy 1.51 or 1.52 ... which still do not allow you to run most homebrew or umd backups.

2.0 can be downgraded, but I would recommend you track down a 1.50, theyre pretty easy to come by - especially on places like ebay or some specialist gaming shops.

then make sure you get yourse;f a 1 or 2 gb memstick !

ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE GETTING GTA TO WORK ??

OK I'm buying a 1.52 psp from mixitforme.com. So can I play backed up games on it? Or do I need to down grade it to version 1.50 in order to play backed up games? But I bought GTA: Liberty City Stories so if I downgrade will I be able to play GTA on the version 1.50?

GTA:LCS Needs the 2.00 or above to run! Something about the codecs! When u first put the umd in it'll ask u to upgrade, the version 2.00 is on all the umds which need it to run, like GTA, Pro Evo and a few other newer titles!

ya...i dont see why you shouldnt be able to...that would waste $50 on a game if you all of a sudden wouldnt be able to play it anymore.

So if you upgrade to 2.6 and had an old game that was NOT a backup then could you play it on the 2.6 version?

The PSP? is cappable of playing all original Media irreguardless of the Firmware beeing newer then when Game 'X' would need to run with. The problem is when you have Game 'Y' (Let's call it GTA:LCS), that needs a higher Firmware then you'd might be prepared to install. The upshot beening that you'd have problems running most Homebrew. Iso Loaders wouldn't even have to be considerd!
