I burn a lot.... so I am not new to this game. I strictly use Taiyo Yuden disk (+Rs, 8x) and once in a very long while (second time this happened in 500 burns)I come across a movie that skips.... it's not the disk! Don't tell me it's the disk cause I burn it the second time and it still skips! It plays fine in the computer and the booktype is DVD-ROM!~ This is the first time since I switched over to Taiyo Yudden's that it ever happened on their disk....... sooooooooo I was more than able to use Decrypter to rip to hard drive and then used DVDRemake to make sure that the movie doesn't have anything I didn't want! Then I burned to a Sony RW and it still skipps in my stand alone! I am currently using DVDRebuilder Pro, movie only, and maybe it will correct what is wrong with this movie! I'll let you know but it's a movie that no one had trouble with..... THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE. Does anyone have this kind of problem..... I never ever had any problems with Taiyo Yudden disks before AND IT'S BEEN OVER 400 BURNS NOW. NOt one bad disk...... can this be sooooooo but if it happens to a Sony +RW (RICHONJPN)then it really can't be the disk! right? Everything went together like it was supposed to (like all the other movies I backed up) and yet it skips on my standalone! oh..... I follow the same rules as always.... burn at 4x, Taiyo Yuden disks, not larger than 4300kb....what am I doing wrong with this movie? any takers?

ok..... just did another copy using DVD-RB, movie only.... still the same problem...... I guess it's the movie!!! does anyone have any suggestions?

does it skip in the same exact spot, or just randomly? possibly the disk itself if it happens in the same spot. did you run an error reading?
i know you know the media, but is it genuine ty?
maybe a dirty laser lens?
or firmware upgade needed?
i am just shooting out ideas in case you overlooked the obvious..

my firmware is up to date, the laser lens is not dirty, these are genuine TYs from supermediastore.com as I always buy from them, there are no errors on the disk! it's weird!!!!! and..... it skips by chapter brakes! anyway...... I am going to try all over again...... see what happens. It's a challenge!

gotta love a challenge.
and, would be real funny if its just something so simple....
hehe....... like a dirty lens.
but there is always the possibility of a bad pressed disk.

Have you tried any other backup software? I had some funky glitches every once in a while using RB but using CloneDVD 2 worked out great.

I used DVDFab Express, version up to date, and still had skipping by the chapters! I don't know but I am getting another press of this movie and starting over. It must be the disk of the movie.....ya think?

the ripped DVD on the hard drive plays just fine on the computer...... the burned copy on both Taiyo Yuden and Sony +RW works fine on the comptuer...... but it skips (by the chapter breaks) on the standalone DVD player! This has only happened twice in 800 burns now. The first time it happened I was using DVDXCopy and didn't know any other program and I was using Memosux!!! Now, after 600 burns after joining AD I get the same problem but this time I am using one of the best disks (Taiyo Yuden +Rs, 8x) ..... and guess what...... I've burned about 50 movies after this one and they all work fine! I am getting a new press of this movie, THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE, and trying again! Should be getting it today or tomorrow and I'll let ya know what happens then!

ok...... just ripped the movie again with a Brand NEW copy! I used my regular program (DVDFab Express) and it still skips chapters.......... soooooooo I used DVDDecryter to rip to hard drive, then used DVDRemake Pro to take out stuff I didn't want, then used DVDRebuilder Pro and whaaaaaaaa laaaaaaaaaahh finally a good copy to a Taiyo Yuden disk! It plays flawlessly ...... but why wouldn't it do the same thing when I used DVDFab Express...... this is not a new movie anymore and I am up to date with the latest version of DVDFab Express! Good thing I have more programs to choose from!

coulda just used shrink alone, i think it would have been faster and easier to do what you wanted, then burn.
