Nero Recode 2 - Transcode Speed?

I am using Nero Recode 2 to recode all my XviD movies to MPEG4 for my iPod. The output result is amazing quality video with no sound sync problems unlike Videora, PQ DVD, or Xilisoft converter.

I am encoding to 320*144 or 320*192 from 6**x2** sources so pretty much I'm doing a bicubic resize and then going to straight to the encoding. Sound is just 128kbps @ the same sample rate of the input. I'm using a 2.8C + 2GB RAM by the way.

Here are my issues:
Some of the videos encode at like 100fps and yet some of them encode at 24fps (or exactly the realtime speed of the video). The video's aren't drastically different since they all use the XviD codec in addition to being around 700MB XviD files.

The other weird thing I have noticed is that on these videos there is no speed decrease in encoding whether I turn on all the HQ options or whether I set it for the fastest encoding mode with no psycho-visual enchancments. Regardless of whether it's ultra high or ultra fast mode... it will encode at 24fps.

It's like the Nero Recode is capped @ the native framerate of the movie. Which is weird because for other XviDs the thing crunches through 100-120fps.

Any ideas on this?
