Hiya, would be grateful for some help with a problem...
We're having problems playing certain backed-up games.
Using swap magic version 3.6 with a fliptop and the games have been burnt using DVD Decryptor at 2x speed on non-brand dvd-r media.
They boot ok but seems like certain rpg's have problems with slow loading speeds, animation loading and audio loading.
Not just slow as in 30 seconds or something, I'm talking 5-10 minutes for a single fight animation. Which renders the backups unplayable.
These problems are most obvious in the following games.
Dragon Quest VIII
Magna Carta
SMT: Digital Devil Saga
Indigo Prophecy
These slow loads seem to occur with games that need to continually load data vs games where entire chunks are loaded at once.
Have tried re-adjusting the laser height and cleaning the laser but it doesn't solve the problem. Have also tried re-burning but with no effect.
I'm not sure if this is a Media problem as all our other backups play perfectly, it's just these few games.
It shouldn't be a TOC issue as all these games are under 4 gigs.
I've been wracking my brains and reading these forums for ages trying to find a solution but have not been able to come up with one. So any help is certainly appreciated!

there's a chance that it could be the media (since these games require more reading from the disc it's more evident where as the other games play fine) unless these games need rebuilding of some kind or patching but, I'm sure that's not it 'cause if that were the case then the game wouldn't boot at all. Try a better quality media just to be sure it's not the media.

Thanks guys :)
Seems like it could be down to media, just been reading up on all the various brands and -r/+r preferences.
I'm heading out to get some decent DVD's and will see if that sorts the problem out.

Demonkia, Im having the same problem, but i have Indigo Prophecy and it works fine it loads in seconds. On the other hand SMT:DDS has not worked once even if i give it 10 mins to load. The medias are the same and I load them in the same way. I dont know why but thats what happens to me, when i load it.

SMT:DDS = Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. Tis a great game.
Changing the media sorted out my problem, I feel like such a noob now :P
Everything I've backed up lately has worked like a dream.
Jack, if you're using the same media for both and you're having trouble with DDS, it might be that you got a corrupted version of that and need to get another one.

Usually people go for the cheap media such as memmorex which is the long run your actually spending more money to find out that the cheap media disc wont work for ps2 (but can work well for pc games and dvd projects). Current the discs im using are Maxxell and they work like a charm well except DragonBall Z Budokai Tenkaichi (which i am having a 20-40 load time inbetween battles which can be quite boring anyone else having the same problem or is it just the maxxells? Well that is the only problem)

I use the ilo disk and they work really well. There one of the cheapest at my Wal-mart. They only screwed up one me twice. One with Matrix: PoN and the other on DDS, so thats like 2 out of about 10. Did anyone eles try the Matrix game?

Ok, if anyone cares hears a follow up.
I got another copy of DDS and reburned it twice to make sure. Once on a fujifilm and one on ilo. The fujifilm produced results like Demonika said, EXTREAM load times. but on the ilo it plays just like the original disk. (yeah) The only brand im buying form now on is the ilo. (its alos the cheapest!)
