My PSP was bought over ebay and worked great, until it was dropped on a hard floor causing this problem:
Everything is like this, games, movies, etc. Everything works fine except for that 1/3 of the screen. When I power on the unit for a second it will flick on like everything is ok then quickly scatter the image in that area to either a completely black image, general color of image on the screen, or just lines.
The PSP is no longer under warranty and Sony told me they would replace it for $125, which is not what I want to do. I see all this stuff about a replacement LCD, but I'm wondering if I might be able to just open the PSP and fix some problem (maybe something pushing against the LCD?). Because when you push on the back of the PSP in the area of the problem you can sometimes alter what you see there.
But if I do this and find out I can't fix it, and break that seal will sony not do the replacement thing? Or is that even something I should worry about.
Lastly, where can I buy a screw driver small enough for it? I can't find one any where and looking online. I need to fix this asap!
Yeah i'm not sure if sony would still replace it for you if you did open it up, have you done a search on replacement lcds for psp on google?
Does pushing on it alter it so that it clears up or just shows a different fuckedness? Cause it sounds to me like the lcds are rooted in that area, wouldn't bother opening it up unless you're going to replace it, or at least find out if that affects the replacemnt with sony first.
Humm all I could tell you besides the obvious, that is. is to Google for a replacement LCD. Which would be cheaper and easier for you to do then to try to contact SONY?. As, as you say this PSP? was bought used. So therefore it has no valid Warrantee on it.
