my psp came stock with v1.5 which i have come to believe is the preferred firmware version but i just bought the new gta and it says that i need to update to v2.0 in order to play the game is there a way to load the game without changing my firmware version or is keeping v1.5 not as important as i think it is or is there a way to save 1.5 and load 2.0 and somehow switch between the two to best suit my particular needs at the time thanks for any input cuz i know nuttin'
DONT upgrade off the GTA:LCS disc, as it is not a proper 2.0 upgrade.
What I do is upgrade to 2.0, by using a safe 2.0 upgrade - link can be found in the forums (can't remember where i got it from). You can then play 2.0 games.
Then, downgrade back to 1.5 using MPHDOWNGRADER, and you can play iso games. This way you get best of both worlds.
I've upgraded and downgraded over 10 times, and the PSP has no negative effects.
If your One of the lucky Ones that got there PSP's? back on the First of September, why not use the enclosed UMD Demo Disc as it has the v2.9 EBOOT.PBP allready on it!?!
In anycase is it worth it?!?! WTF kind of question is that?? you did just drop $?49.00(USD/EUR) for GTA didn't you and your asking was it worth it? Humm I don't know why don't you tell us?
Like the Guy said just locate a v2.0 EBOOT.PBP Update. It's not that hard to do. Five Minutes alone with Google should set you straight. Just place that EBOOT.PBP File in a 'UPDATE' Folder under your ms0:PSP\GAME Directory, of your MemoryStick on the PSP?...
Now that makes alot of sense. NOT. You're going to trust a link off the internet to upgrade rather than your GTA disc that was made by SOny or whatever company makes GTA? With all the Trojan Bricks out there screwing up people's PSP's, you'd do better to upgrade from a source you can trust.
alright now im really not sure what route to take what adverse effect might the gta v2.0 upgrade have (ie could it possibly be a dreaded v2.6 or something) its not a question of $50 for gta being worth it wtf im american i want my cake and to eat it too so i want whatever v2.0 and method of install is possible to someday still be able to get back to the origional v1.5
I've got the umd with 2.0 ichijoe is talking about, last ones made in japan (1.52) as far as i know...
The file size for the 2.0 update is 17.0 MB (17,868,785 bytes) if that helps any, and yes i know this is 2.0 cause i had to upgrade my 1.52 to it to downgrade to 1.5.
Damn i wish they could get that browser working for the 1.5's using the PRX & EBOOT file decryptor method.
pbailey, go track down the FiredUp browser, its a small download and is IMO better than the wipeout browser. It even has a back button !(its up at psp hacks)
im surprised that homebrew devs havent looked into the code that the sony psp broswer was actually made with - a quite well known broswer that I use on my pocket pc - the NetFront browser (its optimsied for smaller screens)
LOL, yeah that's what i use at the mo, but miss the funcionality and being able to use the thumbstick as a mouse, not too mention the easier to use bookmarking, auto remembering passwords etc. Baffles me too that devs haven't looked into getting a standalone kickass browser going for 1.5, obviously harder to do than i thought.
But yeah, for the meantime the fired up browser works a treat.
It's your own choice. Do you want to give up Homebrew and Emulation and ISOs for one (or three) games and a web browser or do you want to give up GTA, SOCOM and HUSTLE and a lousy official web browser and LocationFree for Homebrew. It's your choice.
BTW are you SURE you have your PSP boxed with 1.50? did you buy it from europe/australia on the 1st September? Cos those are 1.52s. THEY can't have HB, so you may as well upgrade to 2.00, so you can either:
a) Play GTA
b) Downgrade to 1.50 and enjoy HB.
psp bought in the U.S. and under system information / system software / version 1.50 guess i got lucky when i got it a couple months ago so i dont want to blow it now but i am a gta feind does anyone have any experience with the Wab version changer v2.5 i saw on psp hack
