Hi, I just bought a 256k card for my psp, and I downloaded an independent shortfilm in mp4 format. The movie is 127mb, I new at this so I tried copying the mp4 file to the psp, and the psp does not recognize it in video or photo. Can someone help me properly transfer mp4 files to the psp and get playback? Thanx I would greatly appreciate it.

Your Mp4 files have to be correctly named for your psp to recognise it. usually M4V10001.MP4 then M4V10002.MP4 for your second one

then put it in a folder called MP_ROOT >> then another folder called 100MNV01

*thats what it is on mine*

or use IPSP or PSP video 9 to do it automaticly for you (google for them)

that should be it

I did that, I created an mp_root folder and placed and created another folder inside that one and placed my mp4 in there---no results. Even in the video icon in psp reads no videos. psp video9 and ipsp are COMPLETELY USELESS. If there is something I'm doing wrong like were the mp_root folder should be kept, otherwise I'm lost.

um, first up psp9 isn't useless, have used it to convert and copy a heap of movies for the psp.
Pretend J:\ is your psp when connected to the pc. so therefore J:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01\then your movie. if it still doesn't work then there's something wrong with your video.
um.. was it already converted for psp? try encoding it with psp9, then using the copy function (obviously when the psp is hooked up), it will do it all for you automatically.

ms0:\PSP has all your stuff.
ms0:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01 is where you put your MP4s.
name them M4VXXXXX.MP4, where X is a pronumeral.
eg. M4V74735.MP4
They must fit within the PSP's max pixels if fw 1.5. must fit within 16:9 in fw 1.5.
in 2.00+, can be other. in 2.00+ AVC codec is also playable. Place AVCs in ms0:\MP_ROOT\100ANV01

I was told to change my sig so I did this.

hey libenja do the vids encoded for the AVC codec make the image quality that much better? And what about the file sizes?

Didn't have my 2GB's when i was on 2.0, so couldn't test it out :(
