You can try without sim first and if nothing happens, insert a non accepted sim, press undo, enter the code in the box, press ok or enter.

When you insert a different sim, what message do you get. This same model in the US comes unlocked already but I'm not sure about the UK models.

no sim card in message is simply..insert sim card...non network card in message reads phone restricted with the option to enter code.. which i did...to my shame i did'nt use your instructions but i did get the code in without any problems using a combination of numeric front keypad & qwerty keypad
would this method be wrong even though the code was exactly the same?

Try both codes with the non accepted sim in. Hopefully one of them will work. Make sure to use the sim that says "phone restricted", press "undo" and enter the codes, press enter or OK. Please let me know what message appears after doing this method.

absolutely fantastic m8...it seems u can not enter a code using the querty keyboard part of the phone. when i tried for the second time using only the numeric front keypad,it accepted straight away...as i'm 100% certain the first number was correct,the only logical explaination is the symbols must be different when keyed in from the qwerty

I meant you had to use the keypad on the phone itself but I assume you now have it unlocked?
