i'm buying a 1080p tv with hdmi in the summer of 2006 or even later depending when ps3 comes out.
but how much do you think the price will go down by then?
i asked a dude at sears, and he says "it might not go down so much since 1080p is the best its gonna get because human eye could only see 1080p"
i really dont want to spend more than 1000.

Its true that most of the sets out now will go down in price since the new 1080p stuff is the best consumers can do. But I don't know what they mean by the human eye can see past 1080p. Some computer monitors can go well past 1920x1080 resolution.

i think what he means is...
if the resolution is too high and the screen is big at the same time, you would have to move back from the screen. therefore, you wont be able to see every detail.

and if the resolution is too high and the screen is too small, your eye cant see everything because the pixels are too small now.

if i sounded too retarded by that, sorry, if i was wrong, sorry.

Your right about the screen being to small but even 1080i makes no since under 30".

The cool thing about resolution is that if the screen size is large (like 60"-70") it is possible to sit closer because the resolution is higher. That fact was the basis of HD in theaters in Japan. In Japan they have a large population and very small buildings. To accomadate everyone in movie theaters seats are usually very close to the screen. Since sitting close makes the picture worse it was quickly relized that in order for people in the front to get the same experiecnce as people in the middle they need to find a way to raise the resolution. Japan has had HDTV since the late 1980s!
