I am just starting out backing up dvd's.
Here is what I did I was attempting to create a dvd without menus and with his I was successful. The dvd was just a test one on a dvd-rw.
I was finish with it, I loaded Nero (Ver 6) when to erase DVD and clicked on the tool. Now this was the first time that I had used it so I was not sure what was going to happen. Anyway the hourglass symbol showed up and stayed for a few minute, then went away.
At this time I figured the dvd was done. I thought it was strange that nothing appeared warning me about the imminent loss of data but I figure this was how Nero worked. I did not immediately remove the dvd but latter on in the even I did.
The next day I was attempting to use DVDShrink, I read that it could shrink and burn the cd. So took the "blanked" dvd and placed it into the dvd-burner drive. The unit churned for a few minutes but nothing happened. I then looked at the taskmaster and Nero was listed as Not Responding. I had problems ending the process in fact I could not end the process with taking the dvd-rw out of the unit.
I then wanted to see what was on the dvd so I placed back into the drive and started Window explorer, just like in Nero it churned for a few minutes but nothing happened. Again I check the taskmanage and I found that Windows explore was "Not Responding" At this time I ejected the dvd and re attempt to see what was on the dvd. It again became "Not Responding"
What in the world might I have done to this dvd, that it is locking up Window Explorer and Nero???
Remember I am just starting out doing this stuff.
