I am at a loss here.

I did a full format on a CDRW with InCD. InCD verifies the format was good, no corrupt space and shows plenty of useable disc space.

But afterwards, if I click on the drive for disc properties, it says there is no useable space on the drive. Windows XP cannot identify it as writeable media either. The drive reads media just fine, I just cannot seem to write/rewrite whatsoever.

I have XP's built in CD writing software deactivated, no previous burning software installed at all, a brand new Lite-On CDRW drive w/current firmware, brand new CDRW media (tried several discs), etc...

I honestly never had so much trouble with a burner/software before.

Hopefully someone here can help. :)

Thanks,
Chaz

Right click on your drive and reactivate this, unless you have CD writing enabled for your burner it will not recognize that a disk is in the drive, it will show full.
I there some reason you want to use InCD, I haven't used it in years ever since Windows went to drag and drop.

Thanks Arniebear,

I appreciate the help. However, it seems that was not the problem.

Windows proprietary CD recorder needed to be turned off to keep it from taking priority over InCD/Nero. It turns out my problem was caused by having UDF reader/drivers other than Nero's installed. Specifically, they were the Windows XP UDF drivers. I deleted those leaving only the Nero drivers, rebooted and everything works perfectly now. I originally made sure I had no old UDF stuff from previous burning programs on my system, I had no idea thats XP's built in drivers would cause this issue though.

Point of note to all, make sure you only have UDF drivers/readers for the burning software you have installed, any other drivers, including those packaged with Windows XP built in burning software, can cause conflicts. The end result can be burn errors, Windows, inability to "see" the disc as having free space, or just all around sub par performance of your software/drive.

Thanks,
Chaz
